Ok guys what are your opinions?

apart from HD recording the Vivaz PRO and N900 are similar in power and Maemo (N900) is said to be better and more powerful than Symbian. I am not really bothered about 720p HD recording so not sure whether to stick with S60 or change over to Maemo.

Started by operating system. It is Maemo 5 and is designed for tablets of Nokia. N900 in nature and nature is a tablet, not a smartphone, although it also offers GSM connectivity. This is the first tablet of the Finns, who has a GSM module and this is an important, but more general function. The device remains the tablet and this is evident everywhere. Logo of Nokia, model name and the buttons are located so that you suggest how to keep Devices - namely a horizontal position or in the landscape. N900 does not even initially supported portrait screen anywhere except in the section for selecting the number. However, this changed after a firmware update, but the fact remains significant. Maemo operating system 5 is very different from previous versions of Maemo. It has evolved in the direction of ease of use, or in other words - user friendliness. Note that the screen N900 e resistive and, although quite sensitive, yet convenient interface, stylus remains the preferred way to work. While we are on software, we celebrate the great multitasking device. Easily able to load multiple applications in background mode, and then manage them through a single touch. Multitasking is possible at such a high level, because the N900 has 256MB RAM and another 768MB NAND-based virtual memory. As you surely noticed the many videos on the network can charge more than 15 applications before you feel any significant delay. Operating system itself just is not for everyone. Yes, she is comfortable and functional, but it has serious potential. That is why Maemo 5 is provided for those who like to modify, create and install software to learn or in other words - to snoop on the phone and operating system. You will be pleased with the N900, because the device is very functional and pleasant to work, but N900 is not pleased. He will feel in a cell and will be asked to fall into the hands of a Linux developer who writes software and dreams even if you like software. There are such people, they are committed to Maemo and they know what they N900.

It's all about what you're going to do with your phone. Maemo5 is great for people, who love to develop apps for their phones (like Linux users on PC), but, originating as an internet tablet, it isn't ready yet for all funcions of a "normal" (smart)phone. For instance : it can't send MMS (yet).

Initially the main reason i wanted a Symbian phone was because of emulators like ScummVM, MameXM, Gameboy etc.. i also wanted to stay faithfull to Sony Ericsson, so i bought the Satio. Although ScummVM and MameXM work very well i felt the lack of hard keys would be a problem as Satio is not multitouch and virtual keys are a pain sometimes and take up half the screen. I considerd the Vivaz PRO because of hard keys and the keeping of Sony Ericsson BUT... i get the feeling S60V5 is being left behind, and worse still Sony have dissalowed us to use HelloOx now

The only other option was N900 as the processor and graphics card is same as Satio and Maemo5 has a lot more emulators and cool apps available.

MMS however has been recently fixed via an app. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZArdaw47lH8

Maybe someone could create a Satio Emulator for N900 (then i have both

After much thought i have decided to stay with Sony Ericsson (not that anyone cares)

Sony Ericsson works for me and for the sake of one or two apps WHY CHANGE???

I have had no problems with the phone since i bought it in OCT09 and the recently purchased 1800Mah battery gives me an extra dayish to work with.

I may still get the Vivaz PRO as a spare handset BUT i would like the next sony phone to be Symbian ^3 Or Maemo like the very considered N900 was..
