Got mine yesterday and LOVE IT! Anyone else here have it yet?
First impressions are great, very solid, amazing screen far brighter and seemed to be just as responsive as my old iPhone, it's incredibly fast, and just works fantastically. I'm really happy with mine and don't really miss my iPhone at all.

I enjoy the iPhone tbh but still much prefer the Nexus One.

MoDaCo.com will undoubtedly be a good resource for you to use if you aren't already familiar with the site...

Going to order mine tomorrow for sure. I've played with many phones but this is just so good. Since its the Desire thread, I am going right ahead and bashing for their slow UX, I couldn't really handle the lag. That hardware with Sense would be a dream but tough nuts. Desire is nicer in the hand, has more RAM as well. HTC are the masters to Android now, even the Nexus 1 can struggle at times but not the Desire. The Legend runs smoother than the X10 with half the power.

Anyhow, Play.com and most places sell it for around £440 but Clove do it for £388! I just need to confirm this before I order. There is also a silver version which looks better than the brown but its not available yet. I was thinking about this for a long time and asked a mate for a look. It is really pretty but, scratches show up easily and I'm the type of person that will scratch it for sure.

This will be my first full on switch to HTC from and I can't wait, it'll be my work and everyday phone replacing the X1 which in fairness had a good go. I can guarantee that for the X10, there will be a dedicated problems thread.

Nobody has mentioned the Desire's Dolby mobile sound enhancement anywhere

Nanu, I prefered the design of the Nexus One, alas it is only available in the US and the touch buttons seemed to be a pain so I'm happy with the Desire really
Not surprised that nobody has mentioned anything about the speakers, because they are extremely average it's pretty tinny although as loud as most phones these days. With my earphones plugged in (CX500s) however it was a bit odd that it was pretty quiet however full of bass, not sure everyone will like it but it's great for me!

It has been available to the UK since Launch on the 5th of January, I have had no problem with the touch buttons though did miss the physical feel of those on the Hero, the speaker is tinny unfortunately though sound through the headphones is remarkably better, this is made more prominent going from the Nexus ROM to the Desire ROM.

I am sure you will be happy overall with the Desire though....

EDIT: Sorry I take it you mean available to those wishing to seek a contract or upgrade?!

I am due an upgrade at the end of April and it just so happens that Orange are getting the HTC Desire Black Edition by then. However I have seen something that may be a game changer for me........ Samsung Galaxy S, google it if you're not familiar, but its not released til around June.
