Was reading the new white paper on the category about Chinese based machines. It says that the Hong Kong version will just have Traditional Chinese UI, does this mean that I cannot set the language to English? The sinagpore version has both...
My chinese isnt very good so will be using English UI but would still want to be able to read chinese characters for contacts, messages, dictionary, etc. It seems that I cannot do this with the Hong Kong version.
This is strange as for example the T68s have both English and Chinese setting. Can anyone give me some feedback on what this is about as I was waiting for the Hong Kong version to be out so I can use the chinese function. If it is purely chinese then I would probable by the IMPORT version.
Thanks. |

Donnot think it has only Chinese user interface. The P800 Chinese HK edition should have English/Chinese user interface selectable, as the former Chinese models do.

quote from new WP of P800:
"There are basically two written languages of Chinese - Traditional and Simplified. Traditional Chinese is used in Taiwan, with a variant in Hong Kong. Simplified Chinese is primarily used in the People's Republic of China (PRC). British English is available as an alternative."
so, i don't worry about Chinese ver of P800 doesn't got the English UI.
i care about can English UI read the Chinese characters or not....
i hope so...
I'm a one waiting the official P800 in HK

I hope that it will have the option of English and Chinese UI. It should as previous models do. However, I think the Chinese versions uses more memory for the character set. Hope this isnt too much of a problem.
Does anyone know, when the official release date for Hong Kong is? |

sadly to tell u that it's not easily change the UI languages....
from the owners in this forum, they have to format the c drive (ie. the internal memory) and install new OS again in order to change the language UI...
anyway, you are right, chinese character ate up more spaces of memory... English version got about 12Mb free of memory while Chinese version got about 9Mb free of memory....
However, i still prefer Chinese model
it's hard to tell when it be released because not many HK guys chatting in this forum....
I guess the release date will be closed to UK release date 17 or 24 of Feb. b'coz SE seems made a pretty large amount of P800! |
