I have noticed that my P800 cannot seem to recieve EMS or Picture msgs sent by Nokia phones. Is there anyway I can turn on this option or is there a software patch for this? Thanks |

Nokia pictures messages are not compatible for the most part with any other brand of phones. I don't think any Nokia phones support true EMS like Ericsson and other brands use. Supposedly MMS is supposed to be a standard between all brands. |

Yes, T68i/T68mi can receive normal Nokia Picture Messages, but those newer ones with 'moving' pcitures they still can't. I just tried it earlier today with my brother who uses the Nokia
Btw, even though they can receive, you can't forward the messages out.

yes, t68i can receive picture messages from nokia coz it's in wbmp format. much like the format used in wml (wap). i think it's universal. you can't send it out though. too bad! |

Ericsson and SE phones support EMS... I think you have it wrong... it's Nokia who never supported EMS. Nokia doesn't have a single EMS capable phone.
I could easily send and receive EMS messages from my friends who use Siemens EMS phones.
Nokia never conformed to EMS, I don't think they know how. hehehehe
All Ericsson phones since the R520 and T39 could support EMS already. |

I believe that you have to enable smilies to get EMS in your P800. You go to:
Control panel -> Connections ->Messaging accounts -> SMS -> Then hook up for Smilies |

This offen causes confusion as Nokia like to call there version of EMS, Nokia Picture Messaging, which led to a little battle with T-Mobile who called there MMS servive Picture Messaging.

All major manufacturers use ems except nokia who use their own proprietary format calle nokia smart messaging, this is why p800 et all cant receive stuff from nokia!

I am able to receive Nikia picture messages, but Nokia is unable to receive Ericsson picture messages. The p800 cannot receive picture messages from Nokia. However, I was able to send the picture message I received from a Nokia phone to the P800 by bluetooth. If you go through the P800 manual ot white paper, you will see that P800 supports wbmp files, so I dont see why p800 cannot receive Nokia picture messages.

That's because Nokia's picture messages aren't exactly wbmps either. Nokia doesn't conform to any picture messaging standard, other than MMS. |
