Can anyone tell which are the phones with mechanical shutter of their cameras?
Such as K800, C905, Innov8, N86...
Can you fill the line as far as you know?
Thanks! |

Exactly, tranced! And I'm looking not only for SE, but Samsung and Nokia too. The reason I'm asking you is that I use K800 for more then 3 years and I'm quite satisfied with it's pictures. I think it's because of the mechanical shutter (despite it's only 3,2 MP). Now I want some upgrade - WiFi, GPS, VGA video. But I don't want to loose good pics and battery!!! |

@joro
try take a look at n82, it'll suit your needs (wifi, gps, vga rec, xenon flash, great battery life) |

The only difference a mechanical shutter makes compared to an electronic rolling shutter is that action shots gets frozen. With an electronic shutter you sometimes see odd effects, for example passing cars look like leaning sideways, or the blades on a helicopter look like made out of rubber.

To AbuBasim: It sounds good on the paper. But in life it makes difference...
To akudan: I was looking at N82, but I think the battery is worse then mine. And honestly I don't like Nokia(ugly)... BUT, I don't give up - if there is something really good I'll take it.
To GUCCI.011: Thanks for filling up the line! Other's knowledge is welcome too. Anyway it's good to knew this cause I couldn't find this on the NET. And what about newer models widely promoted like ARENA, JET, W995?
Honestly, I do very much like C905 (but lack of front camera and office) and Innov8 (but bad battery). |

the c901 has a mechanical shutter - camera-based phones from the cybershot range are very likely to have them.
Walkman phones like W995 are much less likely to have it, as they are just having the camera as a nice add-on the music is the main feature. probably most phones with a lens cover will hav 1

The connection between a phone being music-centric or camera-centric and it having electronic or mechanical shutter is indirect: mechanical shutter is a necessity when the phone is equipped with a xenon flash and a Walkman phone is less likely to have a xenon flash. To the logic as REXX:
Code:
|
If flash = 'xenon' Then
shutter = 'mechanical'
Else
shutter = 'electronic'

Yes! N86 is good example -> LED flash + mechanical shutter! The same with Innov8. Anybody else? |
