Yari: Settings not installed - web browser |

Hey all
Having a problem with my Yari and selecting internet settings - the phone simply won't select any internet settings! Everytime a connection is made to the internet, the phone asks for me to choose what internet settings to install.
I have sent the settings to the phone from both Sony Ericsson (SE) Website and Optus (operator in Australia). I receive these ok, but settings don't install. No issue with streaming settings.
The phone will not connect to the operator to download settings for MMS/WAP/Internet.
It is similar in nature to this older post:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=136116#post1833827
Steps taken to attempt to resolve:
1. Manual internet settings
2. Operator provided internet settings
3. SE provided internet settings
4. Master reset
5. repeat steps 2 and 3 - same issue.
SE in Australia suggested Master Reset and then code update, which I will try tonight. Other than that, return to retailer.
Any one have any suggestions? Hardware or software fault?

Oh, forgot to add, it has been working fine for 6 weeks... no issues at all with internet. Just started to fail over the weekend.

What happens when the phone asks you to download settings automatically? When you click continue what happens? Cos all Sony Ericsson phones should download network settings when prompted. Did you click continue when prompted? Is your phone sim free or unlocked from another network? I had this problem some years ago with an unlocked Sony Ericsson phone on Virgin it refused to install any settings.

Phone attempts to connect to operator to download settings and fails - says contact operator. The settings from SE and operator arrive via SMS.
Settings->User Help->Settings Download
This phone was originally for the Virgin network in Australia but was sold as unlocked for all networks. Worked ok on Telstra and Optus networks when I first got it. As I said, nothing has changed in 6 weeks except for this new error message appearing.
It does give me an additional "internet setting" to use with the name SEMC GPRS which points to wap.optus.net.au everytime I try and download the settings from the operator.
Account is up to date and all good, so no issues with that.

Sorry I have no idea then perhaps someone else will on here. Have you tried reflashing the firmware? Is the phone branded?

Have downloaded latest update for the phone but will look at flashing the firmware. It is branded as Virgin, but as I said, it is unlocked.
Weird it has only started doing it... thanks for trying to help!

Heheheh - if it was only that easy.
Nah, I'll perform a software update, and if that fails, maybe flash it with latest firmware.

Ok, did master reset then software update and phone is now working again.
Will let you know if it happens again, and if it does, I'll contact Sony Ericsson.
