Hi,

I am looking to increase y mem capacity from 8 to bigger.
I have all my data and apps in the mem card.

Moving data is not a prob as I can identify myself.
Moving apps , how can I do and ho easy it is ?
Also, I noticed there are some special folders, does the phone automatically creates those folders when I insert and format a new mem card ?

Also, does anyone have any idea which type of Micro SD mem card will be suitable ? I mean reliable, fast and quick access cards ? There are loads of Micro SD mem cards available.

Any information is appreciated.

to move the apps to you could save them onto the phones memory and then put in the new mem card and save them onto that.

I was just wondering can we not first format the mem card thru the phone and then copy the similar folders from old card to new card using a PC/laptop. This will only work if the phone doesnot track the app and link with the mem card id.

Do what kish said. Just be sure on your pc you have enabled to see hidden files. Go to folder options and enable to see hidden folders then you don't have something to worry about.everything will work on the new card like it used to work.

I have considered the same memory card upgrade, but I have decided to wait for a lower memory card price.

There are tools that can copy the entire memory card as an image, like CD or DVD cloning, and then write that image to a new memory card. One such program is "USB Image Tool" (http://www.alexpage.de/usb-image-tool/), provided that the memory card is mounted in an USB adapter (Like the one that came with my Satio). This tool creates an exact image of the memory, including "bootable" characteristics and such things. There might be a problem if the memory cards have different sizes. Anyway, this is an excellent tool if you want to make a backup or an exact copy of your memory card. I have used it myself to create bootable USB drives with Ubuntu linux distributions.

However, if it's sufficient to just copy the entire memory card contents, including hidden folders and files, that is clearly the easiest method. It might be necessary to make sure that hidden files and folders remain hidden on the new memory card, though.

Thanks everyone for all your inputs and Kish for trying out and updating.
This was exactly what I wanted to know and got the answer.

I would prefer copying and pasting if that sorts out as image copy can sometime lead to unexpected problems if the format and the internals differ !!

Try to change message settings. Messages should be saved to memory card then. All bluetooth stuff are saved as messages.
