Hey guys

Ok I know you are going to hate me for this, but I went and bought a Nokia. A 5800 expressmusic. It was a damn good price and I couldn't say no, but SE will always rule, I'm just not that rich.

Ok so this is my first symbian phone (S60v5 BTW). I am utterly confused. First of all, this application signing business. Why the hell do I have to sigh each and every app I want to use? Oh and BTW I have no clue how to. So until now I have found .sis files useless because I find it very hard to find signed ones on the internet. I know there is a hack for Nokia (custom firmware and flashing) to take away signing, but I am afraid I'll brick the phone (and I don't have so much data CAP left, to download the firmware again as I already updated to v40 today).

And the whole operating system makes me very confused. I only got the phone yesterday and until then I had a K850i. Another thing bothering me is the fact that the TV-out just makes a loud sound and the picture is this black and white mess.

Basically I want to do is get a few Symbian apps which will actually install without complaining that it is not signed...

Please, thanx

go to ovi store n check out free apps, they wont give you problems. There are lots of free good games for it, theres one flying game using the accelerometer , etc. However if you want to install pirated apps, then you will need to sign them.

i too migrated from using many phones for the past 5 years now to a nokia 5530 , even thought the series 60 v5 is sometimes irritating i have some cool apps installed like Touchcomic, match'em game, opera mobile for s60, disks, device info etc...ovi store is a nice place to start or nokiatouch.me is another one, free apps shouldn't be a problem

Is the easiest way to sign to generate a certificate, install it to the phone and then sign each app I want to use with that certificate? Or is there a quicker way?

Thanx for the help man. I requested a cert from OPDA and got it. I used SignSIS to sign a theme and it seems it works. It says that it is a development application (hence the developer cert) and all. I think I am going to flash to hacked firmware later though because signing each app is a little frustrating. But do you know of a way I can sigh apps on the phone itself? Like a symbian app for signing symbian apps?

Thanx for all the positive replies! I thought that you guys would scream at me for buying a Nokia (as Esato is SE biased). HAHA

But thanx again!
