RAMblow, a new memory and task manager application, is now available for S60 phones, including the SE Satio and Vivaz.

RAMblow aims to maintain a healthy amount of available memory, or RAM, to help running the phone smooth for a long time. The application provides automated memory management, as well as manual termination of running programs. The memory boost feature can blow RAM up to amounts never before seen. RAMblow is very simple to use, just let it run in the background, and you will never again find your phone lacking memory.

Major features:
- Unattended and manual management of running applications.
- Maintaining a healthy amount of free available memory for smooth operation of the phone.
- Memory optimization for executing large programs.
- Automatic memory cleanup after set idle time.
- Examination and manual closing of unwanted programs.
- Reporting the results of memory cleanup.
- Compatible with all Symbian S60 3rd and 5th edition smartphones by Nokia, Samsung, LG and Sony Ericsson.

Free trial is available from CellPhoneSoft. Feedback is welcome!

Downloaded this yesterday. Installed with no problems. After the first time I ran it I noticed that there was a lag when opening any menus, though this soon stopped and returned to normal speeds.

My Satio has a nasty habit of crashing (not full crash, just screen turning black after unlocking or exiting applications), which it does on average once every couple of days. It didn't do that yesterday while RAMblow was running. Will see if it's the same today - hopefully it will be.

Some questions:

1) What's the impact on battery life with this running in the background?
2) How long will this trial version last?
3) Will the full version have any other features?
4) How much will the full version cost.

Thanks.

According to our tests the impact is negligible.

2) How long will this trial version last?
Two weeks.

3) Will the full version have any other features?
No, the trial is fully functional.

4) How much will the full version cost.
Damn cheap, at least for now

Thanks Zed. Going to run the trial for a few more days before deciding whether to buy. Hopefully it wasn't just coincidence that the phone didn't crash yesterday.

This is a fantastic app NOT just for RAM but also POWER management, especialy if you use Camera or GPS and forget to close them, this will take care of that with Auto Clean-up, realy nice. ,apps like this hardly ever take much power as they sit idle until Auto Clean-Up kicks in then go back to idle.

Is there any advantage to using this program over using swissmanger pro's automatic memory cleanup?

Well, just had my first crash since using RAMblow. It was the usual issue I have, black screen when unlocking. However, running the cleanup straight away seems to have resolved it, where usually I'd have to reboot the phone. Looks promising!

Is there any advantage to using this program over using swissmanger pro's automatic memory cleanup?

Yes. Depending on your preferences, the following can be the advantages of using RAMblow, when compared to SMP:

- Automatic cleanup by RAMblow includes Memory boost, while with SMP the respective Memory reclaim function can only be used manually.

- RAMblow's automatic and manual cleanups both observe your exclusions, while SMP's Memory reclaim function does not.

- RAMblow is much simpler to use and has a smaller memory footprint, so its use is recommended when you do not need SMP's services all the time.

OK starting to suffer my first issues with this phone, for some reason after installing SMP and ramblow, I know seem to be suffering ram leakage, Using deviceinfo2 you can watch the ram going down, even when you have closed all programs. Got it down to 90mb so far from a fresh started phone of 138mb.

RAMblow, the remedy software for memory-starving phones, has been updated to version 1.30.

While RAMblow is essential on the N97, its memory cleanup functions also serve well on all other Symbian devices (including those by SE), by preventing unwanted background activity, optimizing the use of shared resources, and supporting fast and reliable long-term use of the phone.

New in version 1.30:
- Enhanced cleanup and memory optimizer engine.
- New option to prevent exiting by system.
- New option to switch off messages during automatic cleanup.
- Various bug-fixes and additional optimizations.

The upgrade is free for registered users. Free trial is available! For more info and downloads visit CellPhoneSoft.
