As with most premium rate text messages you can be reversed charged for receiving/reading them. But what that messaging company did is illegal and will probably lose their licence over it. Deservedly so

You can be charged just for opening an SMS that is sent to you?
How does that work?
is it only on O2 or could it happen on any network? |

Surely you have to "sign up" for services like this, by sending a text to that provider which effectively says you agree to be reverse charged for future messages? If someone can send me a text out of the blue and O2 will charge me £1.50 to open it when I haven't even asked for the service then that is a disgrace! |
