It's nothing special, just a big iPod touch as everyone says. It's running iPhone os 3.2 and os 4 is rumored to have multitasking so iPad may get it later too.

On the device, can you save your own documents?

I would agree with this... It's just a bigger mixture of ipod and iphone... And about the documents, don't be sure... Everything can happen with today's "technology"...

P.S. Off topic but little joke i want to tell:

There are devices like imac, ipod, ipad, iphone and the user is called iBOT ... Joking

The success of the iPad will depend on the content providers; if all you can read on it is the NY Times then it'll not generate enough sales and fail. But if as I suspect many Newspapers, Magazines, Journals and Industry publications as well as Book Publishing Houses get on board with content for this device then it'll become the standard setter among eReaders and succeed extremely well. American publishers will need to start the ball rolling though, then other countries will follow.

The iPad is targeted further upmarket than the iPhone and sales will reflect this. If it succeeds then it'll probably attract a midrange market too and challenge the viability of paper-based content. How long before Google decide to compete in this market with an open source standard and HTC designed device?

HTC ditched plans to release an Android based 'pad' earlier this year... I wonder if they will u-turn that decision?

I think Archos will have something similar along soon as they have the Archos 5" Android device out, 7" will be available soon and I can't see it being long before the 9" will be announced.....

The ipad on the whole has had some pretty bad reviews i would say its been a disappointment even the usual apple fanboys have have given it a mixed reception so it remains to be seen how the ipad fairs upon release?
