Satio and recently used SMS recipients and other gripes |

Hi,
I have a few gripes with the Satio (note: am new to Symbian, and full touchscreen) that I'm hoping someone might help with , hopefully some are due to ignorance on my part...
Apart from the fact that its a RIGHT PAIN IN THE *** typing a text, here are my issues:
1. Recently used text nums:
Is there a way to get the Satio to display a list of recently used SMS recipients like the older non-symbian phones do, rather than having to go to the phonebook every time?
Or is this a limitation with symbian??
It is v annoying...
2. Call list does not know the phonebook exists
I imported my old phonebook via SE Suite/MS Outlook backup, but the call list does not show contact names for numbers that ARE stored. Why is this? Do the numbers have to be re-stored on the SATIO for it to recognise them??
Plus, whenthe contact is recognised, it does not update it every where it exists on the phone (i.e. in inbox's etc). Saw elsewhere that this is a Symbian limitation.
3. Is there a way to set the default call type to phonecall? I hate the way it gives the choice of phone or vidoe call each time when trying to call a contact, it is just another click on a "click happy" interface. Its a silly feature..how often would a user potentially make a video call?
Especially for the speeddial nums. Its takes the "speed" bit out of it.
4. How to stop "ICE" being the default number displayed in call list for your emergency contact (i.e. when the contacts actual name is further down the alphabet) - other than sticking an "A" before their name...
Pron no way round this one.
5. How to kill all background running apps with one button?
I don't think holding down the red key does this..is there a way?
6. What inputs do people use to type texts? I know it varies from person to person, but what are people finding mst efficient/least annoying/error prone? And yes, I have big awkward fingers, but I have the stylus tied to the phone at all times...
I use the Alphanumeric keypad with the stylus mostly, and predictive off.
Takes a nice few secs to get a text written and sent!! (Plus you look a right knob in the pub doing this!!)
Any ideas, am I mis-useing?
7. Is there a way to force the Satio to do a new network search? I use to have this as a shortcut on mu C905 to get onto 3G, but the SATIO does not seem to have this...
Don't like the usability of Symbian at all (so far).
Don't get me wrong, I know about and realise all the cutting edge apps and functionality it brings, but I think pre-Symbian SE phones had some nice friendly shortcuts that have not been ported to the Satio and I miss them.

I share your frustrations! Search for my posts on here in bugs and firmware wishlists and you'll see we've both got nearly identical issues.
I've had it 3 weeks now and still get frustrated EVERY time I write a txt or need to input txt. |

I can't be the only Satio owner that finds txting easy when you change the input to fullscreen qwerty.
I'm really quite happy with my phone apart from the mass of menu's you need to go through sometimes. |

Do you use the stylus every time?
Pity is does not clip onto or slide into the phone...altho I would not compromise on functionality for that... |

i've only used the stylus to calibrate the screen ... all other input is either
alphanumeric or more normally Full Querty keypad - ok so you got to
"landscape" the phone but, damn it's easy to text
I reject your reality and substitute my own. |

I havent even taken the stylus out of the box.

I just inadvertantly found another sms delight .... I had a text arrive from my son
whilst the satio was plugged into pc suite (inbox shows his contact name), I reply
via pc suite and the sent item shows his number !!! Later on he sends a second
message (inbox again shows contact name) this time I reply from the satio only
and the sent items now shows his contact name
I reject your reality and substitute my own. |
