1 day after getting my p800, i crashed it! i hope SE fixes the bug. here's how you do it (so far no permanent damage to the phone. a reset gets everything back to normal).

1. open control panel
2. choose storage manager
3. click on "files" button
4. choose to view audio files and look for the default mp3 that came with the unit
5. click on the mp3 file (not on the checkbox). this will automatically check the checkbox and launch the audio player (strange, this audio player seems to have a slightly different interface than the one available from the application list)
6. click on the play button
7. once the mp3 plays, click on the icon on the top right of the screen (the one with the 4 little round circles in it). this is the icon that brings up the application list.
8. your phone will crash and u will see an image that asks u to hold down your "off" button for 10 seconds.

do that. and the phone will switch off. switch it on again and u'll be back to normal.

the regular audio player doesn't have this problem. weird.....

fyi, my sw rev is:
Phone: CXC162002 R1B
Bluetooth: CXC12529 R2C
Organiser: CXC162001 R1C02
CDA: CDA162001/8 R1B02

It's amazing how many people have pleasure in crashing and OS, but then again without knowing how, you cannot avoid those embarrassing moments

actually i don't find pleasure in crashing the p800. on the contrary, i'm rather annoyed.

there were some points where the p800 looked like a rush job (have u noticed there's a spelling error at the back of the pc suite cd? it says qucik guide instead of quick guide! omg! lol). hahaha but that's just splitting hairs.

i really hope SE fixes this bug with newer sw (i hope they even know about it).

What do you know

If I select all my MP3 files in Windows, and select to open them all, my Windows wil crash in an attempt to open 743 sessions of Winamp.

How exciting, can you try this with windows as well??? My version is Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.

I sure hope MS fixes this in a future service pack.

-Knut

PS! People, if you look for mistakes, you are bound to find some.

SE spelling a word wrong is about as important as you not starting your post with a capital "A", (i had a look in my manual but could`nt see it).

don't get me wrong, i still love the p800 and SE. i was just splitting hairs back there. my apologies.

the irony of this is i talked and demoed this phone to some people in Microsoft and guess what the reaction was? they loved it! and they even acknowledged that MS is far from ready for the smart-phone-PDA combo devices / market. just a quick glance at the UIQ interface showed how much there was for them to learn.

so far i count about 7 MS (out of 10) people who are seriously interested in getting it.

Good point, it takes a while to become one with the menus, most of the 10sec screens can be put down to wrong commands by an inexperienced user, it has only happened once this week to me.
Have you noticed the tendancy for people you allow to try the phone out to just touch tabs at random to give you the impression they know what their doing, but in fact they are F**king up all your settings, because of this i don`t let go of it very often now.

Download and use the filemanager program it's much better than the built in StorageManager app. anyway
