SKY High Definition TV, and Multi-room questions |

Hi everyone!
I am wondering if there are many TV and Sky users here?
If you are, I was wondering about 3 things,
1- Is a HDMI cable needed to receive HD pictures? I think it's a yes! They seem to be pricey!
2- What is needed for multi-room in the way of setup? I think the old Sky box is used in the second room, but then I am not sure if there is a wireless link of some kind, or a cable from the dish going to that room!
3- if the TV has Freesat built in, and I connect a Sky Box, with a contract, do the Freesat channels get replaced by the full Sky service?
I know I can search but searching with Google gives me many Sky,com adverts for their services!
Better to get an answer from people who are using these services!

Nope, but it generally produces the best picture. Oh, and their not pricey, I sell them for £5 each del'd. PM me if you want some

Hmm, sky charge an extra £10 a TV per room, we have it in an extra 2 rooms, and both HD too! They will come and fit it all for you. Otherwise, you could get a sky eye kind of system, which sends the same picture off your main tv to your second.

Hmm, if your TV has freesat built in, plug in your freesat antenna, and plug in your sky box seperatly, then you get the freedom of 3 tuners

Yes a HDMI cable is needed for high definition pictures. Although i use a cable from Argos for £10 and its perfect. Its a myth that more expensive cables are better. The multi room Sky wont need a second dish no they simply connect from another cable upstairs to the same dish. The last question i have no idea. But HDMI cables you dont need to buy a expensive one. You wont get high definition pictures from a scart lead but you can use the component sockets on the back of the box also so i believe. My brother has Sky HD and he pays an extra £10 for the kids room upstairs. They put in another lead upstairs to outside

To confirm you can use component but it has only 6 signals compared to HDMI's 19 so obviously the quality is going to be better |

thanks to masseur via pm, and Bonovox and lukechris,
I set up my 42" Panasonic today and it is brilliant! I am waiting for the Sky Engineer for the HD box installation on Tuesday.
I will get some leads locally, thanks lukechris for the offer! If I cannot find, I will pm you but need for Tuesday.
I got 6 months multiroom for free and will then decide whether it is worth it.

You're welcome and enjoy your cinema experience. My dad has a 40 inch LG tv full HD and its awesome and thankfully reliable too. We also have Sony Blue Ray player BDP360 which is now £99 in some places  enjoy. Also my dad uses a £30 Cambridge Audio HDMI lead from Richer Sounds but the one for my bedroom 22 inch is £10 from Argos and honestly you would not notice the difference. The first time i used one it cost £5 and that produced stunning pictures via Blue Ray but lead was too short.

When we got our HD in the engineer fitter it but there was already an HDMI cable in the box, they added a second box upstairs and put in a sky plus box as well, they had to change the head on the dish for one that had six outputs instead of 2.
