Ok so there are now a lot of South Africans browsing ad downloading for free at astonishing rates.

I think the time has arrived for us to start considering what's going to actually happen when we get caught out, and also the possible ways for us to get caught out. I'm sure of it that most of you know about the new Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act (or RICA for short). Basically this act gives certain authorities the right to intercept our communications if they have obtained a warrant.

I am very sure that if one of out 3 Service Providers goes to court with their internet usage statistics (that will depict the they are rapidly losing money through this trick of ours) they will easily be able to obtain a warrant and start intercepting our internet activities. In other words exposing our trick and the people using it. And after RICA registration they know exactly who you are and where you live.

So how do you guys feel about this, please give some insight

P.S. I am not suggesting we stop to browse for free at all, I won't be able to live without it, I'm just asking for opinions and suggestions.

I always consider this RICA thing and ive been reluctant to register my sim ,we need a feedback from people who has already registered their sim cards and downloding for free, but we must also consider that we mostly use anonimyzers that assists us in hiding our real i.p ,anomimyzers provides with different i.ps everytime we login, this would make it difficult for our service providers to track us down. Another thing it that internet is huge ,it almost imposible to monitor every single user.

No problem with the registered sim cards and stuff. register your sim that you usually use but then connect with an unregistered sim. With cell c i know that if you buy a new sim now that you will not be able to make calls or receive calls at all but it stll can connect to the internet via the pc:-) meaning that you buy an unregistered sim and use it for your not so legal duties lol. That aint no headache bro and if you get caught it would be not legal to take you to jail and leave all other millions commiting this. It is unlawful

Thanx for the replies far. I agree with some opinions and disagree with others.

@voodowizzard

Firstly I myself am a registered RICA member and I am browsing and downloading on registered sim's. I also at first thought anonomizers like anongoogle would protect us, but the case is quite the opposite. For the free site on any of the three service providers to work, they have to know that you are actually using one of their sim cards. So in other words if you use free browsing with a free site like the dot trick, you are exposed. They know your number. Or this is at least true for MTN.

I do agree that the internet is massive and it would be very hard to identify individuals stealing internet (that is after all basically what we are doing). But the possibility is there.

@ Hacker89

Sorry man but I disagree about if you would get caught they could not arrest you because there are others doing it. That is like saying if you steal someones car they can not arrest you because there are lots of other people also stealing cars.

@ All

I just don't want to go to jail, that will mess my whole life up. Once you have a criminal record your life is basically over. And I also don't have enough money to pay a huge fine. But personally I think if they start realizing what's going on they will rather just block our tricks than lose more money by taking us to court. But then again they are basically rolling in money. And I think by this time all three the service providers have lost a substantial amount of money, so that's does give them a reason to take it further than just block the trick.

I'm quite worried about this...

All the service providers already know bout all these tricks but the only reason why they havent bothered blocking it is because its still not widespread... Once every tom dick and jabulani start using these settings, all the service providers need to do is simply deactivate the free sites (which i doubt will happen anytime soon)

and with the type of billings system in place it would be pretty simple to pick out the subcribers thats data usage is high but have a 0 balance (like myself) but it would be to much hassle to sue each and every individual for using the back door.

All in all what im tryna say is take advantage of this situation while its still available and dont worry bout jail (unless u using free internet to hack into goverment sites lol)

Thanx a lot for your opinion man, good point made. I just wish we could get a inside guy to tell us what's going on. Like someone at Vodacom Networking security. And yeah I hope that this won't resort to a huge court case, that will be a disaster.

We should really do something to restrict the general public from accessing this info, because then like you said to many people will know about this and the trick will get blocked. I also agree with you that they won't close their free sites down very soon, there are a lot of advertising etc. on those free sites and I think that also produces an income. And it would be an embarrassment, think of it, "Vodafone live websites closed down due to internet fraud by the general public". It will make them look stupid. And it will also let the people doubt their communication privacy and security, I mean if normal people can exploit their internet, then what else isn't possible???

Hopefully this still lasts long. But we really need to take action to keep this more secretive. I already asked Admin here at Esato if we can password protect the Free internet topics but they said that Esato does not have this capability. But maybe a whole new forum section should be made, the the Moderators forum. And only certain people should be granted access. And then all the other Free Internet Topics should be closed down.

very much agree to Ruthless, like here in philippines they already know our illegal doing, its just that they can't do an action against us due to our numerous number it shall affect their income if they block us all, we still use other services like text/call specialy here we are called 'texting capital'

i think its just a waste of time for them to search and do an action towards us, what they'll only do is block our trick.

I totally agree with what you say. But I'm gonna be honest, I would rather let the trick get blocked than having to go to court. I am going to do my best to convince Admin to create another forum section just for FBT and with limited access. So only trusted peole can access it. Delete your post now.

@ ALL

Do not trust anyone! If people PM you for tricks DO NOT REPLY!!! I think their are a few people like Cyborg_a0, Hacker89, anningg, voodowizzard (he's been at working on this trick for long, I know that) etc. which we can trust because they have contributed so much to making this trick work, if they were with a service provider, they are also now guilty.

I hope I can convince admin on a private forum!

u are rite bout one thing, the service providers will eventually find a way to shut us down but not the way u described it. By using the dot trick from vodacom u are not really connecting to the vodafone site but rather fooling their servers into thinking that u are so it allows data to be passed through. So even if the site has a limit we will be connecting straight to the proxy server...

hmm as i remember way past, when @trick is still working in our network we experience download limit using default ip of our network but if we change it there's no download limit.

As for us they can't put a limit because we have a setting that is specially/purposely for phone as modem, and that setting as well is the one we're using in a trick.

Ja sure they may not block it like that. If you would read with attention you will see that i did not say that "THEY WILL BLOCK IT LIKE THAT" i simply mentioned that it is a simple and possibly the best way for them to block it. You think that they can not limit your download? Think again Mr intelligent. Why do you think cell c guys use mxit.co.za as their free site when they have cellc.co.za? Not for fun but because cell c allow a limited amount of data through their site and by using the cell c site you will experience what i have explained.

Thank you Hacker89, u have actually just showed me how correct i actually was. U see if u go to ur default browser using the normal settings and have no airtime and type in cellc.co.za u will notice that it still redirects u to the insufficient funds page, that means that cellc.co.za is not a freesite so thats y u cant use it on any of the tricks. That has nothing to do with any download limits on a webpage. Currently the only free sites on cellc is mxit.co.za and winc.mobi
so next time pls have ur facts straight b4 u try and step up 2 me
