hi guys,

i've been trying to customise my calendar on my sony w995 which is from orange and its doing my head in . I'm a total noob to the SE as i've always stuck with nokia phones, so please accept my apologies for lack of knowledge on these phones. Here is what I did:-

I can't find an option to change the sounds in calendar......I have set an appointment in my calendar app and it went off earlier today, but with a simple "BLIP" noise...how can i change the sound/tone to some other sound-effect?

I really could do with some advice, because if I can't do these simple things on this phone, then I might have to send it back .

You can't change the reminder tone for calender on A200 platform SE phones. You can change everything else apart from that.

Thanks rookwise - That to be honest is fairly silly as even my old nokia 6230i allows me to customise it. You must be wondering why i'm so desperate to have a noisy sound for reminding me...well its because i'm hard of hearing and also one of my kids has an illness which requires medication at certain set times and these CAN'T be missed at any cost.

Would flashing which some custom firmware solve this issue? If so, what firmware can i use on my device which has software version: R1FA035

No mate. Moding with customized firmware won't solve your problem. Only one's that allow calender alarm customization is Symbian handsets (P1i,W960 maybe Satio. Not got a Satio so can't confirm)

ok! you can try this
find the relevant sound file and replace it with another lengthy and loud sound file, keep the file name intact
I found where the camera shutter sounds are resided using A2 uploader, you can do the same I guess

thanks gayannr,

Everything so far is perfect about this phone, but this one sound issue which is very important to me, is gonna make me give this phone back.

Since this is a brand-new one mate, i don't want to modify it YET, just incase i decide to send it back.

Is there anyone who can check and confirm that this method works?

thanks

You can't customize the sound for reminders. But I'm sure you can change the sound with a2 uploader. Use a2 uploader go to Tpa/preset/system/sounds then find the sound files replace your desired files with same name. I need to check the reminder sound file name only on monday because I'm on vacation. So wait if you want I'll guide you.
This is very very simple.don't loose I good mobile in SE.

If you want such "more advanced" options go for some smartphone. Latest smartphones are good enough to suit your needs in my opinion.
