W705 O2 Branding - Everything LOCKED! |

Hey everybody, I got a W705 on O2 the other day (upgrade), I'm not sure if this is a O2 branding thing but O2 have completely barred me from doing anything on my W705! I cannot change my theme (I'm stuck with the O2 Theme) I cannot change my ringtone or message alert! (Ringtone locked to Sony Ericsson and Message Alert stuck to Message Alert 1) The phone also won't let me take videos! I can only take pictures on my W705!
OK, I know for a fact I should be able to do all of this. I got the W705 as an upgrade directly from O2, my friend has the same phone on O2 payg from Argos, and his is branded but he can change the theme, ringtone, message alert and has video recording.
So I want to "de-brand" my O2, but I dont know how to de-brand, so... how do I de-brand? should I de-brand? or should I just give back my upgrade to O2 and tell them to give me a new one because my phone has a firmware problem?

That sounds wrong. Branding does not stop you from recording video or using a ringtone or changing theme

I guess you need to fool SEUS and it'll debrand it for you.

i know it sounds unbelievable but all I get is O2 Have locked this feature for changing my Theme, ringtone, message alert and connecting to wi-fi. I think I should just give it back to O2 and ask for another. I'm sure its just a fault during manufacturing.

thanks for the link, but it seems complicated to me (because im a newbie when it comes to de-branding) so I decided to follow this video on youtube I found (tiny.cc/018q) and it helped me allot, I now can change my theme, connect to my router using wi-fi change my ringtone and change my message alert and I can even now record videos, and also I dont have any of that annoying O2 stuff.

Still think thats not right blocking things like that normal functions on the phone. O2 need a smack up the arse for that Sounds like the old Vodafone days when they used to bar you from using a ringtone unless it was from Vodafone.

hopefully this is not the start of a new policy by o2.
previous phones i have had from them with branding have only had an o2 theme and o2 active shortcut instead of playnow, they were not even network locked.

Yes but not recording video or changing a theme how stupid is that? Thats a basic feature of the phone not something you have to purchase I don't get it. And does anyone remember them Vodafone early days of not being able to use a ringtone of your own on their phones unless bought from them?
