Is it just me or are criminals the ones always getting off these days? I was watching channel 4 news today and they reported on a story about a man who found a gun in his back garden dumped there and handed it into the police. Thinking he was doing the right sensible thing the man from Surrey found the police turning on him and charged him with possesion of a firearm :@ Now with no proof he commited any crime and with no previous convictions this man may now face upto 5 years in prison for doing the right thing. Police even said they believed the man said it was not his gun but still they go and charge him with this. How can this seriously be right? Has common sense gone from this world? Do they seriously think a criminal would walk into a police station and hand in a gun? So next time any of you find a gun lying around a word of warning don't touch it because stupid police won't believe you. Stay away from it though not that your going to find a gun lying around everyday

A little investigation is normal in this situation but now they only show why people call them pigs.

At the end they will find out proofs saying he's not the owner nor he's committed any crime...hope so. He needs to have gunpowder on his clothes/hands, fingertips in the gun, etc.
But I can assure you that common sense is poor lately. The same goes here, sadly

Justice is hard to find sometimes. Even if it all works out, it will still be on his record.

He shouldn't have touched the gun, I'm sure that's the golden rule. A telephone call would've been enough.
I'm well aware that this was doing the "right thing" - but he was in possession of a firearm, and in a public place.
