Just wondered whether anyone has had to do this? My friend has cracked the glass screen, works fine etc but obviously has a crack through the top left hand corner.

How easy/hard is it to replace?

I haven't had to do this but there's plenty of videos and instructions on the web, such as this one

the job doesn't look too paintful if you have a little confidence.

As someone who has pulled vaio's apart, including the rediculously complex Z series just to upgrade a hard drives and which took alot more time and effort than this, I'd say its fairly straightforward.
