I wanted to ask the modders out there what the limitation is in hacking the firmware and adding VGA video recording to the c905? I know that CIF recording can be enabled as some camera mods make it an option, but is there no way to do VGA? The reason I ask is that I was looking at the Aino and Satio, and they both lack something for me, I like the Aino since it keeps a200 but it lacks a lens cover and xenon flash, which make it a deal breaker. I don't want to deal with Symbian and no keypad on Satio but the fact that it has VGA recording is the only enticement. I know some c905 prototypes had VGA recording, with the Aino being a200 based is it possible to take the Aino VGA record setting and port them to the c905?

Maybe we should do a competition, if someone figures out how to add VGA recording to the c905 I could make a paypal donation to that person since it will save me some dough by not having to purchase the Satio .

Is the C905's camera capable of recording in VGA?

Yes. It is a software limitation.

Have you tried searching a related topic in the forum. I think I have read one here or in se-nse.net.

it would be possible but it will lower the frame rate.

it's about video recording resolution...

C905 can record in QVGA (320 x 240) and in CIF (352 x 288)
VGA is 640 x 480

you can place 4 QVGA images in VGA resolution

Raiderski, you're a famous modder, can you help a brother out?

Does anyone have a prototype c905 that had the VGA recording option?

rss_ndrsn, of course I tried searching first, with no luck. Same with se-nse.net.

spiid, the claimed frame rate for VGA on the Aino is 30fps - but from the sample videos I have seen it is nowhere close, even so I don't care that it will be a slow framerate as long as I get that resolution.

Aino is something else. I know someone tried to get VGA on W995 sucecfully but got an average of 8 fps per sec.
I am now sure but I dont think it would be any different with C905

That may be true, but I would like to see how to do it, others have:

Apparently the mod resulted in 15fps which is acceptable to me. If someone has tried it please let me know how to do it! Especially since it was included in prototype versions and then subsequently taken out.

Here are some other mods which show VGA on the c905:

it's very easy, not much values to change, really. I'm not sure about all values but I can try, however you can ask Eltofer for them

I have been searching the same for K800. Those were the days (camera driver modding).

As far as I know it may seems like possible job, but not sure if you can do it without errors (or if you can do it at all)... You may increase the frames per second of video recording using the same (current) resolution. The phone is capable of recording at VGA imho. Later phones have enough processor power to do it...
