Blush - mistakenly submitted this in Newbie forum. Here it is again ...

Hi, having trouble getting Dial-up networking to work. Initially I'm just trying to use it as a modem, dialling into an analogue modem at an ISP - GPRS can come later once the analogues is working.

Symptom is that although I type the phone number into DUN setup, no phone number gets passed over to the handset (you can see in the modemlog).

If I add the phone number manually by entering
dt
in "Extra dial-string commands", then it gets further. Now I see the handset wake up & dial the number. Problem is that after a second it drops the call, and dials again. Then it drops the call and the iPAQ reports an error.

If anyone has an explanation, I'd love to hear from you - or even a working group of dial-up settings would be a great help.

Thanks, David.

Thanks for your help - that solved the problem.

As a new PocketPC user I'd cleaned out all the settings in the Dialling profile, thinking it would let me override their format- of course it just meant no numbers got dialled at all. Doh !

Want to use it on an overseas trip next week, and have it set up with AT&T's global dialler. They have a helpful page explaining the pocketPC settings at :
http://help.attbusiness.net/index.cfm?sectID=501&catID=2770&ID=2058

Here in Hongkong the GPRS works well. For other Smartone users, you can just use the default *99#

Great site you have here. Thanks again for the help.
David.

David > Your welcome.

Well, I'm actually waiting right now for my Ipaq H3870 to arrive. Was just told, that it would be on the 20th of march!

Compaq in Denmark cant get them,..so I'll just have to either wait, or find it outside DK.

I also wanna use it with my notebook with bluetooth card. I Surf the net using my T-68 as modem,..really great and very easy using bluetooth.
Now all I'm waiting for, is the Ipaq to arrive
