Anybody have a problem with their Satio not being "recognized" or syncing with the PC Suite and Updater software? I have tried everything, including installing the software on another PC and I can't accesss my phone via PC Suite or Updater.
It will sync with Media Transfer and Mass Storage.
Anybody have an idea?

Yes, checked that. Installed and reinstalled. I think it may be a problem with the drivers, but I don't know how to remedy it.

I experienced something similar on my computer at my work. On that, the PC Suite does not recognize my Satio. But since we use Nokia phones at work, that computer has Nokia's Communicaiton suite installed as well, and I suspect that there is some kind of conflict between the pc suite programs. I heard a colleague of mine having the same problem managed to get it to work by uninstalling the Nokia software. |

I use Windows 7 and encountered this problem, try this:
open the device manager from the control panel, then check if there's any hardware that hasn't been installed if some of the phone's drivers haven't been installed, select them and click on the "update driver software" button and select "Browse my computer for driver software", select the Sony Ericsson folder inside program files as the location where you want to search for drivers, make sure that the search will include subfolders.
this will probably fix the problem (or at least I hope it to do so) |

also trying plugging the cable in whne the phone is off, and the turning the phone on - often does the trick for me. also, if you are using a USB hub try plugging the phone in directly to your computer |

I just found out that the Update Service doesn't work for me, but the PC Suite does, the problem is that my PC seems to need a driver for something called "SEMC flash" or something like that, any idea?

You will find your anti virus and firewall will be blocking the connection as for a connection in phone mode requires the TCP/IP ports to be open. Turn your security off for 30mins to an hour and try connecting. Your security can be turned on if accessing via file transfer. This has been an ongoing problem with SE symbian phones for a long time.

after formating my laptop twice (first installing XP and then Vista) I finally got the update service working, the main problem with the update service is that the OS doesn't recognize the hardware, but I don't know why it works with vista and with XP or 7 it doesn't (the problem with my XP may be the fact that is a modified version) |

The updater recognised my Satio when I took out my sim card before connecting to the updater. I have an O2 Black Satio and Vista OS. Hope this helps. |

Using Vista x64, I had the same problem with the phone not being recognised. On XP however, it works no problem! |

I think I found a fix for this problem: First, use this description at own risk. Even though it's not very dangerous operations, some expert help might be needed if you fail.
On the computer, open the control panel, and open the device manager. Open the USB subfolder and remove everything that is related to SonyEricsson. It may be USB hubs, USB mass storage, etc. You will have to open the properties for each unit to see that the vendor is SonyEricsson. If you accidentally remove the wrong USB unit, something unexpected may happen, like the mouse stops working, etc, but it's not a very big problem, since it's plug & play, but in order to avoid the inconvenience, please check the vendor name. If there appears units with yellow question marks as icons, you might remove them as well. Then go to File/check for hardware changes and let the computer find the units again. Possibly, the USB cable to the phone needs to be disconnected and re-connected. Hopefully, the phone drivers will now be correctly installed on the computer. |
