Another victim of the credit crunch is now Border's book store's which are to close in 2010 with the loss of around 1,150 jobs. More than 1,200 store's across the UK are to close next year but the retailer will continue trading until a buyer if possible is found. It is yet another big blow to the UK jobs market & high street in the biggest recession for many years. Along with this Lloyds bank is also to cut further jobs in the UK. Border's were always in direct competition with WH Smith although WH Smith is one of their supplyers. I was recently in Border's in Birmingham Bull Ring & already half the shelves are empty which is another sad sign remembering Woolworths. There are lots of good bargains to be found from CD's DVD's & Books.
