I recently got a Sony Ericsson C902 phone, and after fumbling with it and setting the wanted options, i saw that i was unable to change the 'main' shortcuts.

There are the 4 'arrow' shortcuts, which i can easily change in the options. And then there is the two " - " buttons. 1 to each side, above the dial up / close all programs button. Those are the ones im talking about.

At the moment the left one is set to "Media" (thats fine, i actully wanted that) and the right one is set to "SurfPort", which is some online internet thing that i dont want. Any way i can change that shortcut?
I've been through all the options and settings there are, i've tried googl'ing my way to the answer etc etc and didn't find anything yet.

I'm not entirely sure what it means, but when i got the phone about 2 months ago, it was completely brand new from the store.
The screen on it broke, and i sent it in to be repaired. I got it back today, and all the settings had been restored back to default (not the memory card though)

The right side button above the (close/cancel button) is for browsing "Contacts".
But in your set it is set to some online service... That means your handset is branded (Orange/Vodafone etc...)
You can't change those shortcuts through any settings. But if you want to set that button for "contacts" (as default in SE A2 models) then YOu'll have to debrand your phone's firmware.
Or may be you can do that by modding the firmware files.

I got Telia if thats what you mean with branded.

Is there any 'easy' way to change this to my liking?
I'd prefer it if it was completely removed, the shortcut to the right i mean. It's quite anoying when i accidently press it and it logs on the net, takes ages to load and costs money :/

you can change the right soft key using a custom hook file, the left
however is NOT changeable AFAIK.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Surfport doesn't seem like common shortcut...

I think those shortcuts can be changed through the "settings" menu. So your phone may got branded when you sent it on service. I think there was a way to change those shortcuts by edition the keyboard layout of the phone (not sure though)...

P.S. If nothing works, debranding is possible. You can use some of the online clients (recommend TotalGSM)

Hi, Just to clear up what people have been saying I'll try to break it down for you, so you've got the left key set to 'Media', the right is set to 'SurfPort' which is internet. This is because you bought your phone from Telia the mobile operator and because of this your phone is classed as 'branded' this means after Sony Ericsson realised the phone, Telia added their own software to the phone, including 'SurfPort' and you'll probably notice other features from Telia e.g. a theme and other weblinks in different sections of your phone and their logo on the back of the phone. Every operator does this to so your phone has their 'brand' hence the name. However some phones are classed as 'Unbranded' in that, they are the original software made by Sony Ericsson and so does not have all the branded rubbish, phones bought from operators have. This also means that instead of the internet button or 'SurfPort' link you would have a 'Contact' link instead. an 'Unbranded' phone is ideal to have as it runs faster and you have nicer looking software (so no 'SurfPort' rubbish )

So you answer your questions, no you cannot change the left and right keys in the phone settings. However if you get your phone 'Unbranded' you will have a 'Contact' link instead of a 'SurfPort' link. So maybe you'd prefer this option? If so you can 'Debrand' you phone here http://www.totalgsm.org/ you pay for this and download the software. If you really want another link you can used what's called a Custom Hook File, but it's pretty complicated, and I don't know much about this to be honest, but if you want to do this, ask someone else about it.

Hope this helps for you,
