Yes, the P800 comes with 16Mb but what is the largest Memory Stick Duo capacity currently on the market?
Please, if possible, list price, capacity, and link to website where to buy or get more information!?

The P800 can support up to 128MB Duo's which are not available yet. Some people have been lucky enough to get 16 MB Duo's from Asia, a 64 MB Duo (But much more expensive because it has MagicGate which P800 doesn't use) Is expected to available through sonystyle.com someday

Not a nice situation is it, having a great phone with expandable memory & not being able to expand it. if the duo`s don`t turn up soon at a realistic price, it will ruin sales of the phone. |

The reason im not buying a P800 is because of lack of memory.

@Psykotic, What you mean you can`t remember where you left your chequebook,
Seriously though people, it must be said that SE say the max for the p8 is 128mb, now it may be the max the phone can handle rather than the max they will offer on a due stick. so all you 1gig fans better get an HP. |

Hi all,
I was looking for a forum topic where someone was asking if the P800 supports Magicgate Duo's. Well this one will have to do!
I found this on the Memory stick site and not knowing much about Memory sticks as I have been using MMC's for the past year, the article seems to suggest that the Magicgate memory will work in any device that accepts normal blue Memory sticks. Does anyone know this for a fact? Does the P800 accept Magicgate Duo's?
Extract from Q&A (link at the bottom) :
Q. Is it possible to use MagicGate Memory Stick media in digital cameras and digital video camcorders?
A. Yes. MagicGate Memory Stick is the universal media that can be used in any Memory Stick-compatible products.
Q. Is it possible to record copyright-protected music data onto a standard blue Memory Stick?
A. No. It is because the standard Memory Stick does not utilize MagicGate copyright protection technology.
Q. Is it possible to use MagicGate Memory Stick media in PC card adapters and floppy disk adapters designed for standard Memory Stick media?
A. Yes. It is just like the standard media, the MagicGate Memory Stick media can handle non-protected image, sound and PC data and can be used in these adapters. However, copyright-protected data cannot be transferred using these adapters.

It is only 128Mb at the moment, but I'm sure with a firmware upgrade or whatever it will be able to support more.
What I want to know for sure is if the Magicgate Memory Duo stick will actually work in all devices that use the normal blue memory duo sticks as it seems to imply in my post a little further back.
This would be helpful so that I can go ahead and buy a Magicgate Duo when I get the P800.

NO NO NO.
The DUO technology can only go up to 128 megs. if u want bigger memory sticks then they will not be DUos and will not work with the P800 period!!! There is no way to upgrade the p800 to make it read bigger sticks because p800 has a duo memory stick reader and 128 is the most that duo technology can hold.
GOT IT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I HAVE A P800!!!!!!!!! |
