k800i - Configuration error after using XS++ |

More a question out of intrigue than anything...
My k800i gave me the wsod [white screen of death] for the first time last week and I was keen to retrieve the photos I still had stored on the phone.
Having read on a few forums about possible solutions, I downloaded XS++ and flashed the phone with the necessary firmware. Thinking at first this had solved the problem, I was then presented with the following message after switching on the phone and selecting 'Normal mode':
"Configuration error. Please contact your network operator or service centre"
Reading other posts, it was recommended that I 'Customise File System', which I subsequently went on to do. Whilst this was successful in re-activating the phone, it did of course cause the photos to be wiped.
Thinking back, if I had switched on the phone and connected the USB cable prior to customising the file system, would this have enabled me to acess my original photos, despite the configuration error message?
I assumed that because I couldn't access my photos directly through the phone menu, I wouldn't have been able to by linking to my PC either.
If anyone has an answer to this I'd be keen to know in case it should ever happen again.

Not true. Photos were lost before that, after flashing File System. Customizing the phone only adds certain files which are needed for the phone to boot properly. |

Thanks Lollylost100.
I flashed the main firmware first, which eliminated the wsod, but resulted the "Configuration error" message on the phone
and prevented me from accessing the main menu [+ anything stored on the phone memory]. Would the photos still have been recoverable at this stage via the USB cable?
Lastly, I selected 'Customise File System' on XS++ and flashed Europe_5. As you've said this was what was needed for the phone to boot up properly. |

No you wouldn't have been able to recover photos at that stage because you flashed MAIN + FS. If you flashed just the MAIN then you would (if it fixed the WSOD).

Yes, the wsod was fixed after flashing the main, but I got the configuration error message when trying to boot up the phone after that, which prevented me from accessing any of the phone features. Would it have bypassed this error when connecting the usb cable to the pc then? |

So you'd flashed the FS too.
