Does anyone have working GPRS settings for UAE's Etisalat? I've enabled the service and the tech. support person confirmed that it is working on my number.
I used the settings provided on their website but they're obviously for Nokia 7650 and very dissimilar to P800's config menu...

help!

go to this site..
http://www.sonyericsson.com/ae/spg.jsp?page=start
then click on the "Phone Configurators" link
choose "WAP Configurator"
select "UAE"
then "Etisalat"
"SonyEricsson P800"
"eWap GPRS"
then enter your phone number

I hope this works, I've never tried it for the UAE..
I've used this site to configure my P800 for Kuwait and Bahrain and it worked just fine..

let me know if it works for you too..

Good luck

thanks - tried that. I used the ewap (GPRS) configurator and now I'm able to browse the WAP sites.

What I really wanted however was the Internet MNET configurator which would enable the GPRS access to HTML sites - this is something I'm not able to make it work.

Is that possible at all with the built-in browser?

For Mnet:

Put a check mark in "User name and password required:" box.

APN: mnet (waselment for prepaid)
user id: mnet
password: mnet

This will allow you to use other WAP gateways as well as internet, email etc.

I set the Mnet as you suggested but still - when I'm trying to access websites other than www.ewap.co.ae, nothing happens. Little globe (GPRS icon) flashes for a few seconds, then it stops.

I'm using the Mnet service for POP3 mail and it works spectacular, really fast (faster than my 56k dial-up)
Wap over GPRS also works great.

Just the damn Internet Mnet still causing me grey hair.

Can you please check some other settings on your phone I might be forgetting?

@gsm1 - are you telling me that you're able to browse HTML websites using Etisalat's Mnet with P800 built-in browser?

If so - I need your settings....badly!

thanks

Great to know that all's cool with you. But to me - it still a blank. Today I received the settings from Etisalat, specific to P800.

Email works fine, WAP and HTML browsing do not. Zero, dead.

Can you please be so kind and give me your settings? Frankly, I'm giving up...

My current setup is following:

Internet accounts - GPRS (preferred)

Account Name - GPRS
Connection type - GPRS

Advanced

Server user name and password required, checked
username : mnet
password : mnet
address : mnet

Log in : checked by default
proxy : checked by default

Other : Enable PPP extension - unchecked
Authentication - Normal

WAP accounts

ewap (GPRS)
account name - ewap (GPRS)
Internet account - Preferred
Use proxy - checked
address - 010.012.000.032
port - 9201

Preferred tab - use WAP account, checked
Preferred - ewap (GPRS)

Browser preferences:

WAP account: Preferred

This is a lot of data, a lot to go wrong. Can you please compare your settings to mine and tell me what's different?

many thanks

@Titanium

I will put the differences that I have and you can see if they help below:

My current setup is following:

Internet accounts - GPRS (preferred)

Account Name - GPRS
Connection type - GPRS

Advanced

Server user name and password required, checked
username : mnet
password : mnet
address : mnet

Log in : checked by default
proxy : checked by default *** NOT Checked

Other : Enable PPP extension - unchecked *** Checked
Authentication - Normal

WAP accounts

ewap (GPRS)
account name - ewap (GPRS)
Internet account - Preferred
Use proxy - checked
address - 010.012.000.032
port - 9201

Preferred tab - use WAP account, checked
Preferred - ewap (GPRS)

Browser preferences:

WAP account: Preferred

----------

If you are using their EWAP wap gateway, you have to use their EWAP GPRS connection. I don't think the MNET GPRS connection will work with their gateway.

I use another wap gateway with the MNET GPRS settings, and it works for me. Try going to SE page and get the settings for Internet mnet sent to your phone and see if that helps.
