Cheers for info about your baseband. Anyone know how I can get mine to the .16 version if this is better for battery life?

Also, Task Killer keeps killing something called semcIME ? Anyone know what this is? I think it has something to do with the PIN code attached to my SIM card as when I unlock the keypad, it keeps asking me to re-enter that.

I've been looking for a case to and the PAir cases look good. I'll check out the Russell ones too though.

@woz2010

The phone came with baseband 016 and R1FA016 but when I connected to PC Companion it told me an update was available. So I updated but it ended up with the same.

I have owned Pdair cases and found them great really nice leather but without a doubt these are the best cases I have ever owned and their prices were sensible the last time i bought from them http://www.beyzacases.com/
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot.

@se_dude, it happened to me sometimes and I noticed that when you access facebook from timescape, it uses touch.facebook.com and if you access facebook normally, m.facebook.com is used. Perhaps touch.facebook.com is not that stable.

@woz2010, the battery will be improved after several times of charging and discharging provided you don't have any application that drained the battery. It happened to me as well. In the beginning the battery run out very quick but now I can say that e battery has improved up to 40%.

Rather than just killing apps and services blindely (which could have an oposite effect on battery performnce), I would suggest you install an app like "CPU Usage" or something similar to actually see what processes that loads your CPU the most and then just kill those manually and if possible uninstall them. As smart as TaskKiller can be, sometime it can be too smart for your own good I would guess.

Invisible shield is a pain in the ass to put on, get it done at a shop if you can. Personally I would use a pouch to minimise damage from that inevitable drop.

Anyway, its very nice to see so many people happy with the X10. You can nit pick all you want about multi touch etc. but it looks like many of you guys have got the phone or are getting it soon. So far, only minor issues that you can fix with updates. Its a good sign, you are filling the bank and you have to give them credit for making the X10 what it is. Success always prompts a sequel.............

Full credit to SE for delivering a worthy device. The positives far and away outweigh the negatives. This phone will bring them back.

i love this phone but the battery life is killing me. Seems i am getting around 16 hrs on a full charge without enabling wifi, gps making any calls or any other heavy use.

After disabling all data and just leaving the gsm active i'm seeing about 6% per hour drain and after putting it into flight mode it drops to around 4% per hour.

According to the battery stats the display and Android system are only using about 20% in total and the phone idle and cell standby are using around 40% or so each.

How does this compare to other peoples battery usage?

Now this is not my first smart phone and I do not have high expectations for battery life on such devices but on a brand new device I would not think it unreasonable to get at least 1 days use out of a device under relatively low usage conditions.

^ Mine was pretty shocking when I first got it but after several changes the phone is holding up really well. Use a task manager killer, and change the email update frequencies and watch out for any apps the regularly check for updates automatically. Turn them onto manual or later intervals.

I also found running flight mode at night (when I not using the phone) really helps, I think I got a 2% battery drain over 6 hours when it was on flight mode.

Also, don't forget an occasional reboot of the phone, that should clear it out.

I must admit, thou, as with the iphone, as soon as you start using the internet on the phone (i.e. looking at actual webpages) the battery can drain pretty quickly.

Hi all, glad to see that the overall experience is still largely very positive for you brave early adopters..

I heard a vicious rumour from a lady at Oange Customer Services that the X10 is available as an upgrade via 150, even though the web-site shows it as out of stock...

Also on the subject of cases, I too have heard good things about Pdair, an nothing really bad about Krusell. However I was sorely tempted by Noreve when I was looking for a case for my C905.. The only reason I held off was because I knew I'd be changing fairly soon, as they are far from cheap. But the quality does look amazing, and it is a tailored case, specifically for the X10.

About the battery consumption, I think you have to wait several charging cycles as stated in the user manua.

When I first use the phone, the battery drained at about 6% per hour, now I have 50% battery left at 7 o'clock in the evening after using it since morning. This is with wifi and bluetooth usage, youtube, mail check every 30 minutes. The screen brightness is at the minimum (still very bright).

Sorry but my Elm's battery has been solid right from the box, I do not believe in all this charge cycles. Lithium batteries don't need to do that Why should the X10 be any different? I have never seen any difference with charge cycles & also don't believe what stores say when they tell you to charge it for 16 hours first charge. When it's full it's full.

How are people fairing on screen brightness? Mine is on automatic but it does seem quite dark. When I put it side by side with my W960 the difference is very noticeable. Once my battery is broken in I might have to step it on to manual. Either that or become accustomed to it!
