1. Turn off 3g, it uses lots of battery power. My phone becomes warm also when I'm using 3g.
2. Decrease display brightness.

I will try this trick and send you are there any improvements. sometimes heat may damage the battery chemical structure.
and thats why they said, put it on a freezer. How long time it keep freezed ? charged or discharged ?

My battery also getting hot when it charging from empty. I think thats nomal. but Im wondering sonyericsson guys

Make sure you have a genuine battery. Usually Li batteries don't get hot, or at least just very little.

Here current draw from battery (C702, battery 75% charged)
Screen brightness = 80%

Idle (standby GSM) = 3-5 mA pulsating
Display on, standby = 120 mA
GPS Search = 265 mA
GSM Call (display on) = 300 mA
GSM Call (after 30 sec) = 230 mA

Screen Brightness adjustment:

50% = 60 mA
80% = 120 mA
100% = 150 mA

Normal phone functions @ 80% sc.brightness = 150-200 mA

Charging current @ 56% battery = 700 mA

Current sensing ressitor = 20 mOHM

I used another battery BST-37 to power phone via current sense ressitor. phone still emits heat and battery remain
cool even heavy load.
