Have also debranded from Vodafone.. I just did a backup before debranding, also i did a sync to the SE sync service.

Only restored contacts from backup, for some unknown reason sms and email recovery suffered problems. Calendar restored nothing, so recovered it from SE sync along with notelets. Avoid restoring settings, bookmarks and files because you'll get back some of stuff that was put there by the branding.

It's good to have a fresh satio with working picasaweb and the ability to have things the way that I 'the customer' want it.

ah ha ... so mine's not a fluke then .... the on board backup isn't really
worh too much as it doesn't appear to back up messages or calendar
even though the options are ticked !

yet another nail in the coffin for my satio .... I'm going back to my w705,
at least that worked !!!
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Debranding through DaVinci just did it's magic.. Picasaweb started working (from media player), but to me it feels that the photo quality degraded. Do not know if it's SE or the version of Picasaweb. YouTube, GTalk and Google Search app appeared. Can see trial WisePilot as well.

Well it restore my contacts correctly ( Pictures assigned to some of the contacts all matched up), as for the email and sms .. it restored them but there was corruption for sure. Some sms messages wouldn't open up, I could only read the 1st line which was enough for me to make a few notes of details etc. It's made me a bit careful to use not only the onboard backup but also other means like the SE beta sync service (which is by no means perfect either).
Like anything to be honest I wonder how much the dudes used them in anger rather giving them out to Fan Boys/Girls. I'd like to see some of these VPs using the Satio for their email and stuff and then wipe it clean and restoring it.

I just bought a satio off ebay for £275 which i thought was quite a good price.

It is unlocked but has vodafone branding on it so i want to debrand it but it is 100% safe to debrand? I don't want to break the phone by doing it.

Hi Folks, I just finished debranding my Satio

I used the services of the folks at king mobile. Ben was very helpfull and polite. My phone is runing without the
nasty Vodafone software. Could'nt be happier.

Here is there link in case you feel like trying them.

Well in regards to the speed of the phone after debranding it is faster. Not night and day but faster. Some menu's that were blocked by vodafone are now available. I can assign keys on the standby menu which before were locked to whatever vodafone saw fit.

Regarding the price. Yes its a tad more expensive but then you get a nicer chap to help you out. No hassles.

Is it not possible to use SE CDA File Maker (or similar) to change the CDA and then connect and update using SEUS to debrand the Satio for free?

Cheers
