Since the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean on Boxing Day 2004, there has been heightened interest in earthquakes in the 'Pacific Ring of Fire' and the possiblity of Tsunamis as a result.
Recently a large earthquake of the coast of Samoa resulted in a Tsunami which killed approximately 100 people (death toll still rising) and caused a lot of damage.
Just today, another 3 earthquakes of the coast of Vanuatu (7.8, 7.3 and 6.2 on the Richter Scale) resulted in another Tsunami watch (1 level below a warning) for northern New Zealand. Several weeks ago an earthquake of the west coast of the South Island had another warning issued for parts of NZ and New South Wales in Australia.
What do you guys think is going on? Is another big one coming such as the 9.1 earthquake of 2004 which shifted the earth off it's axis (shortening the days by a fraction of a second) and wreaked untold devastation form Indonesia to Africa, or is this increased frequency just coincidence?
