I need to transfer pictures from my PC to Sony Ericsson W595 walkman, I followed this procedure:

To connect and transfer a file via USB:

1. Connect the USB cable to the computer and the phone.
2. In the phone: When you attach the USB cable to the phone, you're prompted to choose between Phone mode, Media transfer, Print and Mass storage.
3. Select Mass storage.
4. On the computer: Open My Computer. Your phone will be visible as a removable disk.
5. Double-click the removable disk. Here you will find specific folders (depending on your phone model) where your files are stored.
6. Drag and drop or copy and paste the file from the appropriate folder to/from a folder on your computer.
7. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB cable.
8. The file is now transferred to/from your computer.

However in step 4 I was unable to see any new device in my computer like I normally do when I connect USB memory stick for example.
What could be the problem if I followed the procedure to the letter?
Also where can I find software for this phone to install on my PC?

Of course, I plug into that port my USB memory stick all the time and also when I plugged in the phone, windows new hardware wizard immediately recognized the model of the phone, but for some reason I can't see it in the windows explorer like I see my USB memory stick.

well, after you select "Mass storage" you need to confirm it.

Hi, which version of Windows are you currently using?

Do the procedure raise an error?... like "USB device not recognized"?

Are you aware that you need to wait for the phone to turn off and prepare for mass storage mode? It takes aprox. 30sec.

I'm having the same problem too, the pc can't detect my W595. Can anyone post the link to compatible drivers for my OS? I use Windows 7 64-bit. I've downloaded a lot of drivers for the W595 but it still can't be detected by the pc.
