France Telecom has claimed its 24th victim in just 18th months in a spate of suicides within its workers. The latest France Telecom employee to kill himself is a father of two who jumped off a motorway bridge. Workers at the formerly state run company which owns Orange staged wildcat strikes yesterday in protest at the latest death. Unions said the company restructuring could be partly to blame. It laid off 22,000 workers in the last 3 years. French labour minister Xavier Darcos ordered France Telecom to be monitored after the 23rd suicide earlier this month when a 32 year old woman jumped from her office window. France Telecom employs 100,000 people in France and has more than 186million customers in 30 countries. See www.metro.co.uk for full story. This is mad surely it cant be that bad working for them
