Main advantage is a lot higher data speeds for quicker internet browsing. Many 3G phone also have a front camera for video calling (although most new 3G phones dont seem to have this).

Streaming video to your phone is possible.
When connecting your phone to your laptop it enables faster browsing.
Sending emails and photos is quicker.
Its possible to talk and surf the web on your phone at the same time.
You can watch youtube on your phone.

you can use your handphone as a modem to your pc/lappy and this will make your browsing experience more interesting...

3G doesnt cover the data part, i believe as a 3G user, that the voice quality is also better since it uses better audio codecs.

3G is all about faster data transmission, audio codecs on a digital network work fine on 2G.
Some new networks are using VOIP tecnology so now all voice/data/video can be sent in the same manner and prioritised to provide the best quality data and video streaming.
