As expected, Motorola just introduced its Android strategy at the Mobilize conference, and it's based around a skin called Blur -- or MOTOBLUR if you're feeling cute. It's built around social networking, and it features live widgets that integrate Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, MySpace, Yahoo, Last.fm and more. Like Palm's Synergy, Blur aggregates all your contacts into a single address book, but it shows you recent status updates along with photos when contacts call you -- very slick. There's also remote wipe and GPS tracking like MobileMe.
Motorola just announced its first Android handset, the CLIQ, which is headed to T-Mobile by the fourth quarter, or in time for the holidays. As you'd expect, it runs the new MOTOBLUR Android skin, and Moto's calling it "the first phone with social skills" to highlight the social networking integration. It'll come in two colors, Winter White and Titanium, and have a 3.1-inch 320 x 480 screen, 3G, WiFi, and a five megapixel camera that'll also shoots 24fps video. Internationally, the CLIQ will be known as the DEXT, and it'll be on Orange, Telefonica, and America Movil. It will also be far less ugly than we all expected from those Morisson leaks.

Android platform is very resource friendly, here with an old platform we can see responsiveness with the UI, nothing less than expected from a linux based OS anyway. if this one used a better SOC platform like tegra, omap3 or even snapdragon then it will fly.

Moto styling has always rocked, and this is no different, and this time they may have the UI right, is this the way back for moto?
I sure hope so, I miss their funky and odd designs.

Check this mate, you'll be shocked:

$400 (if thats true) is seriously cheaper for this than comparable devices like WMbased HTCs, X1, X2 or even N97
this is what i loved about android smartphones based on this platform are produced cheaper than any other platforms around SE might be thinking of releasing rachael soon, their X2 will be outsold by this for sure.

That is a very cool looking device. With a sharp price that could sell very well!
Let's hope Moto are back to profitability with this and similar devices.

Unfortunately, According to Eldar, this model might not land to all markets globally, i hope at least they change their mind and send it to our shores, at least we can have some more choices other than the ugly duckling G1 and the wierd looking Hero.

"The as-yet-unpriced Cliq will first appear in the US some time before the end of the year. Motorola NZ has told NBR it will also range the company's Google phones (the Cliq will be the first in a series) within months."

Can't wait to check this out when it hits NZ.
