K850 touch pad not working. |

the touch buttons on my k800i have stopped working, it used to be intermittent (sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't) now it has just stopped working all together!!
help, its rally annoying, is it a case of cutting my losses and getting a new phone??

Sounds like K850. Try to run SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) You can find it at the sony ericsson site. It might work.

I think it's a hardware problem, if you feel confident try taking the phone apart and gently cleaning the 3 touch contacts on the phone's keyboard PCB. If this doesn't fix the problem, buy one off somewhere like Ebay (usually about a tenner), they're fairly easy to fit.
Have a search on the forum, there should be some disassembly guides or links to guides on here to help you

yeah, downloaded and installed new software, still not working, i'll try this cleaning of the pads and if that fails i will try and get a new bit, not wanting to spend a fortune on it though!!

Hi Wak,
I had the same problem with my K850i. It seemed to be the keypad membrane that had broken. You can find a good K850i disassembly guide here:

Or if you don't have the right tools a Torx 5 and 6 driver. Or don't feel confident enough and live in the UK these guys offer a k850 keypad membrane replacement service with a really fast turnaround...

cheers norm, great couple of links, i'm from Scotland so if i dont manage it myself i will send it off!!
i dont have those torx bits but a friend at work does so i'll try it tomorrow, cheers again
