Where to download Google maps for C905 (without constant prompts for net access? |

Hi all,
I moved my google maps to the memory card to try and put a stop to the crashing / slowing down of my brand new C905. I also wish that I could delete the stupid demo games too to free up space - apparently this is impossible (per AT&T)
Now I have a new memory card (16gb), and I forgot to shift my applications from the old card to the new; and I can't find google maps on the old (2gb) M2 card I was previously using - I must have deleted it cos its not on there. All I require is a functional google maps app that doesn't ask to connect to the net every 10 seconds. I used to have it; so I'm guessing it's possible - even if the old one was pre-loaded on the phone when I bought it.....right?
With Opera Mini, I had the same trouble with the constant 'untrusting' of the software at first. I kept downloading and trying alternate versions until I got one that didn't give me that really annoying prompt. Google maps used to be the same way - free range, no prompts (no geotag either, but what the hey!) I just want my old google maps back. Can anyone point me to the 'correct' download site for this application? I just can't seem to find the right 'trusted' version - even under m.google.com/maps and google.com/gmm.
Please, does anyone know where I can find the trusted google maps application for download? I will actually need to use it as I'll be traveling soon.......typical! I really dislike these constant prompts to connect, especially since under Permissions, the application is listed as 'trusted'.
Many thanks,
Tom |

Download C905 FS Extracted and open TPA > PRESET > SYSTEM > AMS
Then copy *.jad and *.jar files and move to card in Other.
From phone click: Menu > Organizer > File Manager > Other and install *.jad

Thanks for the speedy reply, friend.
I'm cool with copying files etc. But I have no idea how to "Download C905 FS Extracted".
Can you elaborate?
Thanks again,
Tom
P.S. Any idea on
i) how to rid my handset of these ridiculous games?
ii) whether doing this will help the phone operate more smoothly?
iii) viewing my pics in googlew maps - I have no clue beyond turning the activating the GPS and the geotag feature in the camera menu.
I plan to get this phone debranded or at least unlocked when I'm in England next month - I heard debranding yields increased operating speed. Someone posted that the screen colour even became more vivid after a debranding!
This is something I do not trust myself to do however; I'm hoping there's an SE store or renegade cell phone shop over there that can help me get the most out of this phone. |

After unhiding all files on my old card I looked into 'system>amd' or something, like google map jad, jar and # files. In the db subfolder there are a lot of google map-type files too. I was thinking about moving these to the new mem card or phone, but they're prolly just data and useless - I deleted the app itself anyway. Where can I download the AT&T trusted version of google maps? AT&T? SE? So many 3rd party and imitation sites out there- I cant find the real deal! Need trusted version. Thanks. |

Maybe a kindly fellow c905 user could send me the google maps jad installation file or the link copied from their device!
I'm a US AT&T user. Would, unlocking help? |

Try this:
Open TPA\\PRESET\\SYSTEM\\JAVA\\GMM and move here: GMM_RESC.jar

Thanks for the link, friend. But I'm not clear on my instructions on it. Are you saying to replace my file with your shared file, or to replace your file with mine? You say 'move here'- is that as in 'move your file here?' or 'move this file to your system folder'? Sorry, but I need to be clear - dont want to mess up my system files. I'm guessing that shared file is a replacement for my file, or its a file my phone needs to revert to 'trusted google maps'. Correct? Thanks. |

Just talked to se. Rep advises backing phone up via se pc suite; downloading se update software; doing a master reset to strip the phone of anything that wasnt on it at the time of purchase; then updating the phone via the se software updater to restore missing google maps and remove anything else I have put on the phone; and lastly using se suite to replace my backed up files. Apparently, the updater will see google maps is missing, and will install the correct, trusted version. I'm hesitant to do the master reset tho. Wouldn't se software updater replace google maps without a master reset, google maps is deleted anyway? I should have asked the tech guy. But I really dont want to have to reconfigure net, sms voicemail settings and all that. Besides pc suite didnt work well for my W580i, I dont use it at all, and I keep downloading an se updater exe file that wont run. I'm on dial-up, so my phone is waay faster than the pc. I'll try to update the phone, but I need someone to tell me that master resetting a US AT&T branded phone is not a big deal- I've read mixed opinions. Do any of these instructions make sense to you readers? Should I do this? Why cant I omit the master reset part and have the updater fix whats missing? That's all I want: the trusted version of google maps that band pre-installed, without the nonstop, app-killing prompts asking for net access. I'm all for trying the jad file replacement, seems like a really simple solution, but I'm afraid I need more detailed instructions. I have a different folder layout than noted in the jad file post- no TPA or preset folders, just a hidden system folder. Thanks a lot guys. |

Found this link to a trusted google maps. They say its version 3 with latitude, but it downloads v2.3.2. Has street view etc. But most importantly no prompts! Works for me. http://m.getjar.com/mobile/pr[....]36871424&clickID=209x206367210 |
