My Sony Clie also have USB, and sync/transfer to it is lightning fast.
What is wrong?

There is nothing wrong, it's two different phones. I don't find it that slow considering all the data it has to go throug on a P800.

USB1.1 transfer speed is 11mbit/s. To sync or transfer a MP3 (to the phone OR card) takes minutes. Not very acceptable i think.
I will buy a BT dongle. I hope it is a bit faster, even if BT is about 1Mbit/s.

problem aint from usb itself or the recipient....p800 is just slow at sending recieving

The P800 uses the same system connector as the rest of the SE phones. That means that it uses serial transfers, and the sync station is just a serial to USB converter. Therefor you get Serial speeds instead of USB speeds...
