My doctor has told me off saying i need to be more healthy. Although i am not obese i am more stocky type of guy but yes i do have some fat. I dont drink anymore or smoke so thats a good start. But i used to smoke gave up 9 years ago along with alcohol though i was never a heavy drinker. So whats the best and fastest way of burning fat and which foods burn fat quickest too? I guess not many people on here are experts but if anyone has advice then great. I have started doing some swimming recently which i am enjoying. My doctor told me off after i kept having dizzy spells. My blood pressure was up a bit but not serious.

Cross Trainer, Treadmil, Rowing, Spinning and swimming are good fat burners with the correct fitness program made for your needs. Still an idea to do low resistance weights as well just for mobility and slightly helps burn a little fat with higher reps.
I wouldn't advise to swim and use a gym on the same day otherwise you will risk doing more harm than good. Alternate your fitness pattern so you use the gym every 2 days (2hrs max with a good fitness program) and swim on 2 of the days in between. For swimming. Use the 2 fastest strokes (Front Crawl and Back stroke) as these will burn up the most calories. Also try a little Butterfly if you can do it well. Keep Breaststroke to a minimum as you will have to do 3 times as much work compaired to the other strokes due to it being the slowest stroke with little exertion involved.
BTW. I've been 15yrs working in the leisure industry

Oh great so any advice from now on is from you cool. Well thanks for that. I do enjoy swimming and can swim well with front crawl but i am useless with back stroke. When i try back stroke i feel as if i am going to sink and cant stay up lol. I go to my local council gym as its cheap with a pool. Also whats best food wise for burning fat? Someone said to me grape fruit but i hate it. I love all fruits but grape. I never ever thought to ask at the gym but i only joined recently.

Basically in the gym you'd best be doing something like high reps/low resistance weights and more time/medium resistance Cardio.
If you struggle doing backstroke its can mainly be due to you not stayig streamlined enough. Just remember that your leg kick is mainly used to keep you up in the water. Leg kick on any stroke only provides about 16% propulsion. The rest is to keep you flat/streamlined in the water.
If your not confident doing backstroke. I'd suggest you mix Front crawl (aim for 1 breath to 5 arm pulls but start with 1 breath to 3 arm pulls. This is called bilateral breathing as you alternate the sides you turn your head to breathe) and breaststroke but only do breaststroke for 2 lengths at a time to get your breath back.

Have them along with a good fat burning excercise program. Basially you want to increase your metabolism.
Some papers also mention milk, cheese and yogurt might be considered as fat burning foods as well.

Wow great thats alot. Guess its mostly common sense really whats bad whats good. Though i never would have thought cheese or any dairy products as they are very fatty and have zero fibre in them. I am vegetarian by the way i hate meat though i eat fish. I did lose 10 pounds in weight last year when i visited my friend in Hungary. We swam in huge pools in Budapest and a massive thermal lake and walked everywhere so i lost loads in a week. I normally lose alot first week or so if i lose weight then it slows. My doctor did say men lose weight faster than women which is cool. Thats great stuff to learn then i shall be trying all that.

Basically from what I've read recently the calcium in dairy products can boost weight loss by increasing fat breakdown in fat cells. Therefore, dairy products could be termed as fat burning foods.
I've also edited my previous post incase you missed it

Yes i noticed your edit. Great stuff. I guess though if you dont like too much dairy or wish to avoid it altogether you could get calcium from supplements.

That can happen. Usually as you would be doing the same routine each time. Your body will eventually adjust to the routine and you will see fewerresults. Best to vary your routine each time you go the gym eg. Doing one order of equipment for a week then reversing or mixing the order the following week. Continue this and you should see better results

One word: Cardio. Get a 30-50 a month subscription to your local gym, so you can work out when you want to, ask one of the resident trainers to set you up with a cardio workout. You'll burn 1000 or more calories in each session.

Just remember though, to reduce the size of your meals. Its no good doing all the exercise, if you still continue to eat shite.

its not so much reducing the size of the meals, just reduce the amount of fat in them, i.e. eat healthier (thats probably what pmerryman was getting at)
fat has 9 calories/gram whereas protein and carbohydrate have 4
oh yeah, and drink less (or no) alcohol while doing all this, not just because alcohol is empty calories (i.e. there is no nutritional benefit), you'll also be less tired when you come to do your excercise

Thanks people. I guess my system needs jump starting cos yes i do get tired too easy thats why i need exercise. Strangely enough i dont actually eat take aways no more and no longer drink nor smoke. Its just my stupid little downfalls like too much tea with something naughty or eating processed crap. Seems to be only once a week like Sunday i eat fresh cooked food with Sunday lunch. My dad says that eat little and often rather than big meals. Just need to do it which i am already its just needed more advice. |
