OK guys i have a Marantz PM-17 amp, with some KEF speakers, plugged into my sound card which is XFI extreme addition, and im getting the occasional cracking stack sound and i don't really like it any ideas??

Have you tried another source for music? might eliminate the pc? also check all you connections (clean them with a little switch cleaner and a soft toothbrush), if speakers are banana plugs or binding posts then check the connection wires are fitted properly, also everything is earthed properly too

everything was taken apart the other day, and cleaned and re-setup, but somebody else did mentioning earthing, its deff the pc they work fine through the cd and dvd player, we thought the new sound card would make a diff but just not as much cracking, give the earthing check
