Recently Nokia announced its plans to launch N86 8MP in the US, with a price tag of US$558, which is much more than similar models from Samsung and Sony Ericsson. Technical Details

My Suggestion is the wait.
You'll get very decent pictures and the video recording is fantastic with VGA @ 30fps and TV-Out along with N-Gage games will be fun. Applications for S60 3.2 (FP2) are abundant but the screen is still QVGA and for a smartphone this is getting VERY VERY old indeed. If you're over 28yrs old ... avoid this cause eventually this resolution, a throughback to the cathode-ray type TV's will hurt your eyes.
Sure it looks nice ... even I wanted one. But do you really want to slide it to dial a phone every time you use it?
CONS:
incoming calls ~ even those already saved in the phone book as 1 number per contact is NOT always; actually seldomly recognized showing a name just a +19731234567 type number when its saved it SHOULD show Jennifer for example. This affect calls, sms, mms.
Emails are not efficient as say a blackberry; but its sufficient for the average consumer: you can choose Se7en, Emoze, or even LCG's variant for email IMAP/POP. RoadSync for Exchange ActiveSync is better than the free Nokia MfE but costs $35+US.
So why do you want this phone?
I'd say wait until next year to purchase a Nokia smartphone or wait until late September when Maemo 5 ships on the Rover destined for T-Mobile USA with their 3G supported: its already leaked on the web in full prototype dress looking reading for production. Imagine the Nokia N97 in full hardware.
Oh you could get the E72 which will be sweet.
If you want the N86 for its multimedia ... get the N97 instead. You get the contact search like the E-Series which makes dialing a saved number a breeze. No need to open Contacts first before dialing the contact name then dialing. Also N97 will get a Symbian^2 upgrade as its compatible, N86, N95, N85, and E71/E72 will NOT.
So N97 now ... or wait, or look for alternatives; like a cheaper SE W995a.
