Display light, W995 |

Hey!
I just purchased a Sony Ericsson W995 some 7 weeks ago. It has been at a SE service center for 6 weeks out of the 7 weeks I have owned it because the light in the display "I think" does not work as it should????
But the service center keep saying the phone is OK???????
Now here is what it does:
Sometimes when "pressing a button" in keys locked mode the light turns on in the right way "up to the specified dimmed light" 0-"I guess" 50% light, because it's keylocked..
but sometimes it turns on wery weak and then in 3 or 4 steps reaches the specified dimmed mode... (0-50% light)
But sometimes it never reaches the specified dimmed 50% of light, before turning of again..
Same when slighting it open, or going from light of "without key lock activated" it sometimes turns on fine "from 0-100% light" like all other mobilphones does and all SE phones I have owned before this one"! but sometimes it turnes on again in several steps before reaching 100% light
Is this problem, or is it surpose to react this way?
Or is it just me who's an idiot???
Please any feedback would be appreciated....
Thanx Danny |

it's supposed to be like that .... my w705 does it too. there's a small light
sensor in the front bezel and it's used for working out how bright to make
the screen and/or keypad !

All right!!! thanx for your quick reply....
Just did a test sitting in the day light in my living room, and it does turn on in 3-4 steps befor reaching full light..
but under a blanket where it's dark, it doesn't do it, it only reaches weak light, and if turn it on under the blanket "reaching weak light" and then imiatetly pull the blanket away it makes the steps up to full ligh So it actually saves light when it's dark in the room, and senses that the display needs to be brighter in brighter rooms.... Dam I'm stupid HA HA!!!!
But thanks again.... you just saved my day!!

Instead of experimenting with blankets, you could just put your finger on the light sensor next to the videocall camera.

Yes!!!
I just did that too... and you are right
I just wonder why neither SE support nor SE service center knows that.. I could have saved 6 weeks of having my phone in for service when it's actually is a clever feature and not a bug... they should have told me, or written it somewhere in the manual.. don't you agree???
