I converted 3 movies into Mpeg, mp4 format as suggested in SE's w995 Users Guide using 3rd party conversion software then drag n drop into my phone's media card.

The video playback is pretty SLOW and sound was erratic as there were breaks in audio in the external speaker while audio is "slightly" better with earphones!

Funny thing is... mp4 is compatible to iTunes so I imported into iTunes and it plays well in iTunes and my iTouch!
The movies also play well in Quicktime and other media players!

This leads me to believe that the phone just can't handle the video well!
It is a Walkman phone after all so why the heck did SE advertise the video aspect of the phone when it's not that good??! SE must be getting desperate in selling their phones!!

I upgraded the media card to the newer Sandisk 'Ultra Mobile' 16Gb M2 card as the "ultra" version is supposedly faster than the "regular" version in terms of performance speed.

But I can't tell any differences based on my experience with the videos. It is relatively faster with audio files as I did notice less lag time when opening songs and between transitions from one song to another!

The card is almost half full (3 videos take up ~1.5G, while the music files and themes take up ~5 Gb leaving me ~9Gb free)! There's plenty of room!!

I just don't think the phone's processor can take video well since it's reading off the media card which probably slows down the performance.

I certainly won't use the camera as a media machine since it's really not meant for that. SE should not have advertised the video aspect of the phone if it wasn't that good.

A Walkman phone is really meant for the media player for audio! Video should be left to the touch-type phone or the Android-type phones!

@MrMojo1 and badiroula199: Could you post the specific parameters you are using for the conversion?

I.E.: Audio codec used and framerate?

I ask you that because i had the same problem with my C702, the video and audio were out of sync most of the time (specially with larger videos)... i used mediago to convert a video to .mp4 and then analized the video with Quictime's Video Inspector (IIRC), and it showed, for example, a framerate of 15 fps, as opossed to the 29 i was using until that moment.

I kept using SUPER to convert my videos, but changed to 15 fps and haven't had problems since then...

Can be a firmware issue.
Just try to update the firmware.
If it is a Branded firmware, try going for a debranded latest one.

Used Ojosoft Total Video Converter on its default setting for conversions:
Mpeg4, 24fps, 320*240, mp4

This file format works in the iPod, though, but barely works in phone as the video is decent.
I have to use earphones to get decent audio to avoid gaps and skips since the audio doesn't play well over w995's tiny external speakers.

I have different file conversion software but this one converted the better versions.
It doesn't surprise me that the iTouch/iTunes/Quicktimes can play the movies better!

As stated previously, it's not bad but the phone isn't really suppose to be a video player but a music player, hence the Walkman designation. I would rarely use the video feature anyway but wanted to see how SE implemented the video feature into the phone, which wasn't so well!

SE shouldn't have advertised this phone's video feature in their ads so much if it wasn't so good!
It's very misleading!

BTW... Already installed the phone's latest firmware.
Just don't think the phone can handle movies well!

I'll stay with my iTouch for portable movies!
