My girlfriend has one of the above, having a few problems with it (randomly freezing/turning off/won't startup when turned on etc).

She's never done any updates of the software at all, so I took the opportunity to backup all her contacts etc and then master reset, to which I was then going to install the latest updates.

That, was at least the plan. The reality is 2 hours into the 'master reset' we're still stuck on the 'please wait' phase and the phone is doing nothing, literally nothing. It's had the battery off the back, and it will restart back to exactly the same place of 'please wait' then do nothing.

Any help? or ideas? How long should it take? Surely not this long??

I can't believe how cr*p this phone has been.

I have the same phone and itīs great I love it. Had similar problem at the beginning, did an update and now it works fine. Battery lasts almost a week ! Anyway, first make sure you have done everything right. Itīs extremly importatnt to do everything accurate. If it still doesnīt work, take it back to your shop, if you still have warrianty,

I'm not sure what to do though, as I can't get it to stop this 'please wait' stage.

Whever i've had to do thi one a phone before, its taken a matter of minutes, we are now just passing the 4 hour mark & still no change...

Is there any way I can force it to reset? It has no key response, nor does it recognise when its connected via the USB cable.

At this rate, its going to end up as an expensive paperweight.

Hi

I would suggest you flash the phone, that should fix the problem.

After you normally do a master reset turning on the phone again for the first time does take a while and says please wait for a number of minutes.
Phone?? What phone??

Having been on the phone to Orange, it appear to be a fairly common issue on the early phones. Doesn't help she never did any updates or backups etc however.

So, here we are 24 hours later & its still stuck on the 'please wait' phase of the reboot, so I think its fairly safe to assume its knackered & hung in the process.

So, my question now is, what sortware is out there that I can flash this phone to wipe it and restart it remotely? The SE PC Suite doesn't do anything, so I need something that will force it out of its cycles really.

Thanks

you need the SE updater (known as SEUS).
when you run this it may well say you currently
have the latest software - to reinstall just click continue.
this will "flash" the handset and hopefully cure your please wait .....
