Hello!

With all the series designations...

What does each class represent....

C/K - Cybershot series (Camera/Kamera)
G - G-line (Generation Web); web-centric
M -
P - Professional/business series
R - Radio
S - Snapshot
T - Clamshell (new)/T-line (Style)
V -
W - Walkman series
X - X-peria (smartphones)
Z - Clamshell series (old)

Models ending in 0, 1 and 2 are candy bars
Models ending in 3, 4 and 5 are sliders
Models ending in 6, 7 and 8 are clamshells,
Models ending in 9 will have other, unspecified form factors

Models with the highest numbers would be the top models within each class designation.

For example....
W995 - Top model of the Walkman series - slider
W980 - candy bar
W890 - candy bar

C905 - Top model of the Cybershot series - slider
C903 - slider
C510 - candy bar

Anyone confused yet with all the designations?
Any updates/corrections are appreciated.

Why can't Sony Ericsson combine them?
Too much variety, too much quality issues, Too much similarities, High prices!
Hopefully, maybe that's what the newer models will become so one can have the best of everything - phone, media player and camera!

Thank you!

w910 isn't a candybar. truth is, while SE have a loose designation, it changes frequently and they often break the convention.

then there are s60 that just have names.

other possibilities:

s = swivel or slide
m = "mail" aka handset for blackberry competitor
k = Kamera
v = vodafone (always for vodafone branded)
t = old meaning, goes back to Ericsson (t18,t28 etc) maybe for "telephone"?
g = general purpose
f = fun
j = joy?

I don't see anything confusing in SE's nomenclature.
You just have to remember that for Walkman handsets, it applies to those released after the W980 (i.e. W902 onwards).
