I am going to buy two 24" monitors soon and I have nailed it to few but I'm having a hard time deciding which ones to get.

I would be using them mainly for programming and movie watching (I love HD content), I'm not a big gamer and only play games for few days every year.

I can get all those monitors for, so it's not the price I'm worried about but the quality.

Dell S2409W

  • Made in 2009
  • TN-Panel
  • 1920 x 1080
  • 16:9
  • Contrast Ratio: 1000:1
  • Brightness: 300 cd/m2
  • Response Time:5 ms
  • inputs: DVI, HDMI, VGA
  • Adjustments: Tilt

Dell 2407WFP

  • Made in 2007
  • PVA-Panel
  • 1920x1200
  • 16:10
  • Contrast Ratio: 1000:1
  • Brightness: 450 cd/m2
  • Response time: 6ms
  • Inputs: DVI, VGA, SVIDEO, Component, Composite
  • Adjustments: Tilt, Height, Swivel

NEC LCD24WMCX

  • Made in 2008
  • TN-Panel
  • 1920 x 1200
  • 16:10
  • Contrast Ratio: 1000:1
  • Brightness: 400 cd/m2
  • Response time: 5ms
  • Inputs: DVI, VGA, HDMI, COMPONENT
  • Adjustments: Tilt

The Dell 2407WFP obviously was/is really good priced at 1000$ When it came out, comparing the Dell S2409W price at 350$ when that came out... And the NEC at around 450$
But that was back in 2007 so I am wondering if the cheap new LCD's can match or even beat the quality of the old Dell?

All inputs welcome.
Thanks in advance.
P800 - P910i - P1i - and some non-P phones...

Don't listen to the specs. Go and see all the monitors in a store or something. I have a sony SDM-HS95P and the picture quality still beats a lot of lcds today (resolution and response time doesn't but oh well)(and this is from a monitor from 2005!)
