Hi, This is my first post here...
I have a Sony Ericsson W890i network free and on vodafone (UK).
Tonight I was transferring my sms files from the internal memory to the card memory. It was pretty slow - but there was quite a few sms's in the phone.
I've had the quite common problem of the phone switching itself off , displaying the red light and rebooting.
Anyway, phone did this mid transfer and now it just registers 'No Netw. Coverage'...
I tried scanning manually for all networks and it finds nothing. My messages have been lost and the phonebook part of the menu will not access anymore - it just hangs.
I've tried my sim in another phone and its fine.
Its as if the phone part of the phone has been damaged. I presume this is a software problem. The other non phone parts of the phone - camera, walkman etc function as normal.

Can anyone offer any advice. Is it worth trying a total software flash, and how would I do that? Or is it screwed?

Thanks for any help and advice...

Hi and welcome

You're probably running and old firmware version. You'd need to flash your phone with a newer firmware version. How? Check this thread
