Hi everyone!

I know quite a few people have got one of these and I hope to have tomorrow am!

I also know there are a few threads but I have not found one dedicated to users of the Paris..

SE P5i Rumours and Photoshop Thread

Sony Ericsson Paris P5i/P200 Video-Review

and perhaps a few others.

What I would like to learn is how to get the best out of the Paris! I know it is UIQ 3.3 OS.

So what applications are you running?

How do you synchronise your phonebook and schedule with the Paris.

Best place for themes. I have seen this site but have not registered yet.

Why has this thread been moved to Rumours when some Esato members actually have the Paris P-5i in their hands?

Don't understand that..... I do know it was not released but it still exists.

That's good...

So what applications are you running?

How do you synchronise your phonebook and schedule with the Paris?

Have you found a good site for themes?

Used a few Paris's in my time

Amazing device, shame it got cancelled!

Camera, wfi, Gps, touchscreen, slider = awesome features overall.

Themes, dont think may are around on the web, a few will be available on the phone.

Never sync'd it to my PC to be honest.

It's a nice phone. Shame it got cancelled as i think it would have been a popular phone. As with other prototype's there is no way to use it with your pc as there are no drivers supporting the P5. You maybe able to send your contact list and calendar entries via Bluetooth though but it would be one at a time so could take a while.

Thanks!

@PeterKay - what gps software do you use with it?

@Rookwise - Do you think it would be possible to put contacts on the memory card and then transfer to the phone's main memory?

I am off to search for piccies taken with this phone..

If you can put your pc contacts as a V Card/vcf File (whichever type the phone supports) try this.

Make a contact on your phone (eg A). You dont need to put a phone number. Save it and then backup you contacts to the memory card.

Put your memory card into your computer.

Find you contacts backup file on the memory card (should be located in a folder called Backup)

Locate the contacts file on your memory card and note the title and file type (vcf/V card)

Rename your pc's contacts file to the same title and type as the one on your memory card.

Delete the backup file on your memory card and replace it with the edited on from your pc.

Put the memory card back into your phone and the option to Restore Contacts should be available. Select it and see if its worked.

Thats what I used to do when transferring contact backups from non smartphones to my Symbian smartphones and it worked everytime.

thanks Rookwise!

I will try that when I get a memory card reader.

I did bluetooth my contacts from my BB Bold to the P5i but have no idea where the file is on the P5i!

It did seem to send across, as a VCF, with no problems !

I do have a new icon on at the top of the screen - yellow envelope with 2 blue >> marks on it..

Any advice welcomed!

@Ofiaich

When you send a contact or calender entry over via bluetooth it will be saved in your messages usually. Dont know if the P5 is different but my P1,W960 and G900 was like that.

@kuemmeltuerk

I got mine from the for sale threads here at Esato

@Rookwise.

You are spot on! But I knew you would be

I opened the message with the vcf file and saw

This file has 51 contacts that you may save to your contacts application.

And I can see a small box with 'saving cohtacts' in it..

But I cannot see any contacts in my contacts!

Hmm, bit of a puzzle! But early days! More checking out this evening

Check your contact settings. Your contacts will be in the Unfiled view. AFAIK you will have a choice which to view. The previous owner might have changed it.

Hi Angello,

but in the system information it is called a P200

@Rookwise,

OK are you suggesting to change it to 'all phone contacts'? Still cannot see the contents of the VCF file.
