Hello

I am having a lot of problems installing the XDNT software on my PC (Win XP Pro, T68i and Datacable to connect) I first installed and everything worked fine, when I say everything I mean with XDNT because the Image Editor would not connect to the phone. It's almost as if installing the XDNT removes some component from the Image Editing software, and then does not install it for itself and so neither work.

Anyways so I uninstalled everything, and just installed the Image Editor, which worked fine. So I tried reinstalling the XDNT but as soon as it's installed the Image Editor stops working, and the XDNT does not work either. I then have to uninstall everything and reinstall, if I try to install XDNT first it keeps telling me to run setup again after a reboot as it is not complete. I did this several times, and the XDNT does not work. So at the moment I just have the Image Editor installed which is working fine. What do I need to do so that I can use both XDNT and Image Editor? is there some order in which I should install things? I have the T68i setup as a modem in the System Hardware and its connected to one of my COM ports.

I downloaded the XDNT package from SonyEricsson, and so had the latest version. However this is missing things like SMS management, and has nothing for configuring the phone. So I decided to download the XDNT package from the link on this forum (Package 4 I think it was) Neither of these work, what can I do? It's driving me insane as I can't figure out why it does not work. Is it just an XP issue? Should I uninstall everything again, including the modem from the System Hardware, then install first XDNT, test that, then install Image Editor, test that and XDNT again and see what happens? And do I need to install the modem drivers from SE?

Last of all, but not so important at the moment as the above.... how can I transfer ringtones and themes to my phone using the datacable? is there some specific software I should be using?

Thanks, and apologies for the lengthy post, but I have no idea what else to try to get all the software to work.

I have also seen this problem, and I think it is an XP issue (tried on my friend's win2k computer with no problems). You install package4 on XP, and during the installation of the XTND bit, a message box appears saying "Register" (even though you chose not to). I think it then sends a bad return code to the main installation program which causes it to roll back the installation of everything. So all you end up with is XTND installed, but none of the ericsson bits.

The way I solved it is:
1. Install Package 4. This will fail and uninstall all the ericsson stuff, but will leave XTND installed.
2. Install Package 2. This will give you the Mobile Phone Settings and PBTM programs.
3. Install Image Editor.

That's what I did and everything now works.

Thanks Your post deserves a star! as everything now works as expected. I wonder if SonyEricsson realize there is a problem with Win XP. I did email them saying that I thought it was a problem with the software and XP, but have not yet had any reply.

Don't suppose you know any software for transferring ringtones? And on a completely different topic, its a small world! I see you live in Southampton, I am just down the road in Eastleigh

Thanks

You can get some software for playing with ringtones from chrissterson.org. There is a composer program and something for converting Nokia ringtones.

I also have had this problem. I have tried the fix suggested - and all seemed to install fine. The problem I now have is that nothing will connect to my phone, alothough it did before. Any suggestions?

Not sure what else you can try, besides remove everything, all the software and remove the modem from in the system hardware. Make sure everything is removed completely and then try again following the instructions above.

When you reinstall everything it loses your preferences over which com ports are enabled - make sure you have reset these options! Control Panel, Phone Monitor Options, Com ports.

If not, try installing mobileagent because that doesn't connect using the same components as the sony ericsson stuff.

Found the solution. I had to turn my phone off, take the battery out and then try again. All works fine now. I don't know quite why that works. A friend suggested it as they have had similar problems and that is how they fixed it.

Hmmm, I've been having occasional problems where the phone has to be turned off. This is quite annoying! Other things I have had to do to make things connect to the Ericsson stuff is kill the EPMWOR~1.exe process or remove and reinsert the BT dongle.

I have exactly the same problem under WinXP. I only get the XTNDConnect installed and never the stuff i need.

However i really wanted to try the SMS in OUTLOOK feature that only comes in package 3 and 4 where theres also XTNDConnect.

Does anyone know how to get the features with SMS into Outlook on XP. I can sync my T68i via Bluetooh fine, just want the extra features from Package 4 installed.

Anyone?

Thx

I don't think this is possible until SE release an updated version of these, unless it is possible to copy the files from someone who does have this installed and register etc. It might also be possible to extract the files from the installation - I may have a go at this later this week.

Quality post rlawley

I got the same problem, but instead the error said "Purchase" instead of "Register", it then decidedly removed the whole MPM stuff etc.

Gonna take me years to download R4A but soon as it's done I'll try the lot out
