Hi! I sent this email to Garmin last week...

-------------------------

Dear Sir or Madam,

I purchased a Garmin 765T serial number yesterday .

I do have 3 problems with the maps.

My house and many houses in WestHouse Road, does not appear on the map. The address is 77 Westhouse Road and the postcode HU00 0TP. This is very strange because the house was built in the early 1960’s and the last house in the street is 91.

I do understand that I can mark my present location, but that doesn't solve the fact that the map is inaccurate.

The second problem is that whilst driving to Hull, I drove over the flyover at Saltend, thus bi-passing the roundabout below. This flyover is about 4 years old now.

The Garmin showed the flyover but routed me down to the roundabout and then back up to rejoin the road!

The third problem is that when approaching Water Shed Bungalows and Hanks Lane, on route to Hull, the Garmin unit gives a 30 mph speed warning, but in fact, the limit is 40 mph and this changes in Thorn about 50 metres before the left hand turn into Hooks Lane.

I look forward to your reply ,

Ofiaich, places changed to protect the innocent

Their reply was quite amusing..

--------------------

Dear Ofiaich,

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.

Thanks for your e-mail, we are currently experiencing high volumes of e-mails at the moment due to the release of our new map updates, please accept my apology for the delay in getting back to you.

I am happy to help you with this.

It sounds like you need to update your safety cameras, I have attached a guide to help you to do this.

...................

I must rush now to update the safety camera so that I can see where my house is

Please let us know the nonsense replies that you have had when asking for technical help!

Ofiaich !

I suspect the safety camera update will address the issue of inaccurate speed limit warnings.

its not just garmin. google maps, live search maps and microsoft autoroute don't know this postcode either.

Although you can't always believe wiki, it does say that hull postcodes start from HU1

It might be interesting to type your full address into the royal mail postcode finder and see what it thinks your postcode is. I tried, but without knowing your actual locatlity there were too many results (Hull didn't work as the town)

If you need updates to your safety camera data base on your Garmin unit consider this alternative http://www.pocketgpsworld.com[....]p?name=Cameras they seem much more accurate and are updated weekly, and cheaper than Garmin's Cyclops.

Thanks johnd,

Did that already, I have 16 years, 261 days, 12 hours, 11 minutes, 21 seconds left!

Updated the Garmin ones this morning too, but they speed restricts on the road that I noted are still wrong!
